Unless you have opened up the OS so any app can access it and sideload apps from dubious sources then you don't need an AV

I've been trying Avast, seems to get a top score these days for detections.

You might find it useful if you're downloading files or clicking URL links or installing apps regardless of source.

Pretty much all these AV apps are just power drains on your battery and at the end of the day do nothing for any one who is even slightly tech savvy

OK,we have to make the difference between "antivirus" and "internet security".
If we can get this right, then we are sure on the right choice.

Reserve internet security for computers where its an issue

I've been trying out bitdefender as I picked it up as part of a suite. It's been pretty unobtrusive overall. I'm not overly concerned about security on the mobile but complacency is not security. It does provide 200mb of VPN usage per day which I use of I'm connected to public WiFi when coverage on the mobile is poor. Didn't seem to cause any major battery drain that I could see.

Corect...but partially at not agreeing with you.Security threats are larger as spectrum these days and covering all devices through all aspects of threats open / possible attacking methods.

Read H E R E and let me have your feedback

I think that common sense should win but if a website is compromised, you are gone no matter what device you use.

So if an AV client detects that the user is remotely tech savvy it deactivates?

    Seems like magic to me

Is anti-virus still a thing? I thought it was established that most of the 'viruses' were coming from the anti-virus sales people... Remember back in the old days when we used to have anti-virus, firewalls and tiny processors... it's a wonder our computers ever worked.

Best way to avoid viruses is to avoid dodgy porn & games...

Put your pictures and anything else you need on to a flash drive, then do a clean install.
