Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The sophistication of French coaching seems 10 or more years behind the times. Almost everyone has moved beyond them. Its only that they still have a serious pool of talent that they are sustaining any sort of level. Player development hasnt moved on much either, but thats back to the low level of coaching.
They need to hire a few New Zealanders for about 10 years for root and branch change in French rugby knowhow.

yeah - they have never had a foreign coach at national level afaicr?

stupid French pride - get over it.

Demon creature playing openside for England at the moment.

England just playing for the craic now.

France doesn't even know which back is playing where.

Brunel needs to be proverbially ****ing lynched for allowing this.

France need a Michael Cheika or Joe Schmidt to install a cultural change.

That’s a very generous penalty try IMO

Was just reading there that the FFR have strict rules on players having French passports and they have next to no players that are resident qualified.

Can't imagine they'd hire a foreign coach with that mindset!

Incidentally, you could argue that every other them benefited from the 3 year rule and have made their teams better, while France have gone backwords :o

Don't think he would have scored. Ball bounced behind to the left of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

That’s a rubbish decision from Owens

Dunno, even if he caught it with his knee or foot it likely would have been scored.

The only real positive outcome now could be a ridiculous, 80+ point England win and all of the arrogance and complacency that comes with it.

Ashton had over-run that ball. There is no way in hell he was going to pick it up and score either way.

penalty try and a yellow card... how much worse can this get for the French...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,440 ✭✭✭The Rape of Lucretia

Ahh correct. He was tackled without the ball, and while anything can happen, it doesnt have to be a guaranteed score to award the penalty try.

Two French players on top of him, and still a couple of meters out, yellow card definitely, but very harsh penalty try.

He tried to kick it but overran it. He was then tackled

It has to be a probable score and I don't see how it was anything of the sort to be honest.

I think we’re gonna find out soon.

    Harsh that

I wonder with Italy having a professional overhaul from bottom up with Conor O Shea calling the shots will Italy eventually over take France in international rugby. As Italy progress France regress and they eventually over take them

France attack ends up as an England PT is just France being France. Ropey decision that it was

maybe the French player shouldn't have a tackled a man without the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

I think they said on TV record points loss for France vs England was 37 points which was nearly 100 years ago.

Well thats just so dumb. Has to be a yellow.

Quinlan keeps saying Sinclair. It's a small thing, but its irritating me now.

Decisions like that allow this nonsense to creep into the game.

Johnny May held and stooped Du Pointe from getting to that before Farrell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭joseywhales

    Wtf, they jogged back

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Wonder would he have carded him if they had 15 on the pitch or if it was a closer game.

sort of ironic as France had amongst the earliest adoption of foreign players for the national team - Tony Marsh remember him?

    played 21 caps 2001 to 2004

44-8 and there is 25 min left.

    French rugby is dead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭joseywhales

21 literally jogged back and allowed that try to be scored

Awful officiating from Owen, Sinkler was a yellow, Bamba was a yellow, May held the replacement scrum half back.

Ntamack jogging back too, talk about a luxury player.

France making Ireland’s performance last week look less poor.

Can England peak again for the World Cup?

They look fantastic at the moment.
So much pace in the back three and Farrell pulling all the strings like a marionette master.

Sorry 22 the guy beside farrel

I kinda thought that Owens saying "we're checking everything" meant he was going to look at the French player being held on the ground. But he immediately gave the try as soon as he heard "back off Blue" so he clearly wasn't actually checking everything.
