Hi, We are going to be in the area of Alpe d'Huez at the end of April for 2 days and was wondering does anyone have any recommendations for Bike Hire and where locally might be a good idea to stay. Thanks.

I used Cycle Huez a few years ago. Rental was very reasonable for a carbon Wilier with Ultegra. They’ll deliver locally for a small charge.

They’re located at the top of l’Alpe so bear that in mind when it’s time to return it ;)

I stayed in Ferme Neomie. A decent spot - campsite and some apartments. Decent bike storage facilities too.

Rented from these guys a few years ago. Australian couple ran it, very nice to deal with...

They're right at the 'finish line' in the town just before the tunnel etc

There are a few places in village at bottom .I used one few years ago great guys only thing you need to book a day or 2 before and bring your own pedals !

Highly recommend this store in bourg doisans http://www.cyclesetsports.com/ having used it last year, btw end of April will still see some routes closed with snow.

My only suggestion if you haven't been already decide where to stay first...as in town...
Alp Dhuez is up top and you will have to descend to Bourg D'oision to climb back up..(wrap up its cold)
Stay in Bourg you climb Alp Dhuez and descend back down...you will have a better selection of routes but you are only staying two days
It will be easier to hire in the resort you choose to stay in.

Staying in Bourg...Investigate this lad...Phil nice fella we ended up bringing our own bikes in the end....

If you book your accom through this crowd the bike hire works out cheaper...

Check the gearing also when you're booking. Some places don't give it and you might end up with a 39/25 as you're lowest. (Depending on your climbing ability of course).
