I don't mind the statements. With all the online billing these days it's handy to have proof of address coming in.

Both myself and the Wife got charged for ATM withdrawals using our revolut cards, mine was used in a UB machine and hers in AIB, I thought there were no ATM charges.:(:(

    Conversion charges?

Are you referring to the 12c government tax?

thats the beauty of a printer. I can just print one sheet on the extremely rare occasion that I need it I don’t need or want my statements/ lodgement receipts it’s just something extra for me to dispose off. Plus the needles waste of paper and the cost associated with it.

Home printing doesn't work when they want you to take your print out to a branch to be stamped. I don't mind the statements, I just shred and recycle ones over 6 months old.

I download my statements from Anytime banking in pdf. Takes up no physical space and they are identical to the originals. I haven't received a paper statement (or bill for anything) in YEARS.

It's either this or you've gone over your monthly limit.

Emm, I took out €260 and was charged €261.20. 12c was government duty and I'd exceeded my €200 monthly limit .. dumb or what??

I hope that was in August. I don't withdraw much cash anymore so never reach my limit. But it costs Revolut, that's why they restrict it. If you take out a lot of cash consider the premium account.

It was the 1st... No real problem as I very rarely use the ATM.

If you go to your 'Dashboard' (the last tab on the bottom of the app, then tap on the cog wheel and then 'Price Plan', you can see your limits and current usage.

The limits are per calendar month.

I had left 3gradn in my account to avoid charges, but have just discovered that it only entitles me to dodge transaction charges.
I still have a €2 monthly admin fee for having a current account, with no way of avoiding it :(

I really don't wan the hassle of moving bank right now, but may have to make the jump in next few months.

Honestly, it's not that big of a hassle....most Direct Debits can be changed over the phone or online.

Having 3K sitting in a current account is crazy imho (I did something similar for a while) - I know interest rates aren't hectic anywhere right now but at least with something like the KBC Extra Reg Saver, you're getting something back apart from just avoiding transaction fees

More charges from Ulster Bank on the way......

"From 18 April 2020, the transaction fee for Payments and Transfers carried out in a branch is increasing from €0.20 to €0.80. Where these Payments and Transfers are made between Ulster Bank current accounts, the fee of €0.80 will apply to both the account holder making the Payment or Transfer and to the person receiving the Payment or Transfer. Please note this only applies to accounts that are subject to transaction fees."

Found the notice for this change here.

Seems that some branch transactions were already charged at 80 cent, this just makes most/all branch transactions at 80 cent.

Can't be too many people doing branch transactions like this these days.

Did anyone here actually stay with Ulster Bank in the end??

Would be interested to hear how the charges panned out in reality

I did like an eejit...got a statement saying I paid €153 in fees for last year which of course was only from April to December. Finally changed over to KBC last month.

Yes, maintaining a balance >€3000 and paying €2 a month in charges; I can live with that.

    Wow!
I have a BOI business account and would close to that. That's crazy fees for a private account

I stayed too luckily I'm on the 10 a month account.

I have a ufirst account so paying 10e a month and no other fees. It was getting me 0.1% off my mortgage rate but as soon as that is nearly gone.

The biggest plus for me is the 25% cashback on Tickemaster tickets. I got €120 back on one concert alone last year which covers the entire years fees.

My current account is just €2 per month with Ulster Bank. As, luckily, I can keep a balance over €3k there's no transaction fees on top of that.
    CURRENT ACCOUNT
€2 per month plus transaction fees (unless you keep €3k in your account each month). If you are aged 66 or over these fees do not apply.

I'm surprised at the amount of people that are comfortable leaving 3k+ in their current account. I leave enough in there for rent and bills and weekly expenses, the rest goes to my savings account.

It's easy enough to roll it over every month. I have a monthly transfer to savings as well. €3k in a savings account won't give you €30 interest at the moment but what would it save per year in transaction fees?

I meant security wise. If I lose my card/phone, I won't be fretting about anyone having potential access to a large amount of cash.

I just be paranoid of something coming out that I'd forget about and then I'm under the 3,000 balance and get hit with fees. I honestly don't know why everyone hasn't moved. The fees are crazy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,908 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

That's some whack of an increase
With KBC now - 2 euro a month, no other charges except ATM withdrawals (do cashback when I need cash)
It's like they don't want customers to come in to the bank so they can close them all down

Is that the KBC extra current account? If so, there are no fees once you have 2,000 a month deposited into the account.

You can transfer money in and straight out again from the credit union or any other external source from KBC to make up the €2000. It doesn't all have to be wages. That's what I did when it was €2500 to qualify for free fees.
