Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Everyday wiper blades (bayonet fitting)

I usually change wiper blades every year or so as they seem to get damged in winter driving, presumable when used on frosty windscreen (wife I suspect!).

I usually but some cheapish generic blades and went to change a them few days ago on my current car and found that the wipers do not have the "J-hook" ending all my former cars had, but a flat ending that I believe is called a "bayonet". Anyway, despite endless manipulation and twisting, the blades i bought (Michelin in Aldi) in no way seem compatible with my wipers and I cannot get them to fit.

Is there a specialised "bayonet" fitting required or do I need special blades - if so, any recommendations for a decent price (I know they will be fecked in frost again so looking not to spend too much)

If you look the really cheap price then you can order from China only the rubber blade. Bit over 1 eur 2 blades.

A lot of wiper blades now come with a range of clips on them to suit a variety of cars .
What car are they for ?

Id advise against putting in replacement blades.
They only last 3 months .
Replace at march or April after the frost has gone and get the year out of them

That said you could get away with cleaning them

What type of car do you have? Can you post a picture of the fitting on the wiper arm?

Yes there is a special fitting required for a bayonet type wiper arm. Some wiper blades (Trico) come with a few removal plastic pieces so they can fit a wide range of cars.

You're best off going into your local motor factors and getting a decent set. Trico are great and don't cost a huge amount.

Car is a 2008 Laguna III.
Wiper arm is flat, that should slot and click into blade- looks like it's called a bayonet

Was there not a box/bag of various black plastic adaptors in with the wiper blades? Is your car listed on the back of the wiper box?

Car was listed but looks like the relevant adapter is not included. Maybe it's meant to be a permanent part of previous blade, but cant see that either

Those blades are made under licence. I’d be skeptical.

Is this the type of wiper arm you have?

If it were me I would return the wipers you bought to Aldi and just head to your local motor factors.

Yeah that's the ones, they're the exact ones on car currently. Think you're right, might be best to return the ones from Aldi and go local parts store, thanks
