Ok I have an old Yamaha receiver

YAMAHA RXV359 AV RECEIVER TITANIUM

https://www.hifix.co.uk/yamaha-rxv359-av-receiver-titanium

It does not have hdmi output and has optical cable for sound

Was looking at replacing it with

Pioneer VSX-531

https://www.richersounds.com/pioneer-vsx531-black-sos.html

I use it for the TV and have surround sound speakers and Yamaha woofer

At the moment I have a hdmi switcher that I use so optical cable goes into that from the receiver into the switcher and then hdmi cable from switcher to TV. Also have Virgin box and Nvidia shield going into the switcher so that I can switch between different sources

So I just want to reduce the amount of wires but still want to link up the wired woofer and wired speakers

What's your recommendation?

Hi Irish Gunner.

The VSX-531 is a much better amp over the older RXV359.
Running the HDMI's directly to a receiver and will give better sound quality.

The 531 is currently priced at £199

If you went a little more you could grab a Denon AVRX550 priced at £249

Let me know your thoughts.

Denon looks good but maybe a tad to much for what I need it for. Any other models?

I have Shield android box and virgin media box. Just want receiver that I can plug hdmi cables from these into receiver and listen to sound from speakers wired to receiver.

Also is toslink cable only option for sound or any other option.?

Hi Irish Gunner.

All you need to do is plug in your HDMI's to the new receiver and the HDMI will carry both picture and audio to the amp.
The audio will come out through your speakers and then the HDMI will carry the picture from the amp to you TV.

The only reason you would use optical/toslink would be if the device had no HDMI output.

All receivers we would currently sell all have HDMI inputs and outputs.

The only other receiver around that price bracket would be the Denon AVRX250 coming in at £179.00

Are these are the best prices for these

I may drop up to the shop to see them but I can see if you order online there is a discount on the Eur shop but if I go up like what I see and pay in GBP are there any discounts?

If I do drop up can a demo be given on them?

Need to see if I can sell my old Receiver also.

Hi Irish Gunner.

Normally a demo is no problem but at the moment our demo room is filled with televisions as we have need extra storage to keep up with how busy we are.

We are trying to clear it down but it could take another week or so.

At the moment those are the best prices on those 3 amps. We always try to do deals where possible but there is very little margin to start with on them.

The Euro pricing from our website is as follows:
VSX531 - 229 Euro.
AVRX250 - 199 Euro.
AVRX550 - 299 Euro.

Let me know your thoughts.

I am really tempted by the AVRX 550 are researching it and I see online there is a discount code and with current fx rates would work out same as GBP price.

So can this be applied in person ? So no demo can be given ?

In Dundalk a lot so just a hop and skip away but would like to get it before the end of March as something big is happening or so I believe

Hi Irish Gunner.

At the moment we can not give a demo of a 5.1 system as the demo room is out of action as we have been using it as a store room for televisions as its been so busy here at the store.
As I said below it will be at least another two weeks before it is reopened to the public for demos.

I could perhaps get one of the guys to set up one of the amps on the shopfloor and run it in stereo for you to listen to?

The 10 Euro off voucher can be done in store as long as you pay in euro for the transaction.
That would drop it to 289 Euro

Hi Irish Gunner,

Unfortunately the .com site will not ship to Ireland and the refurbished unit is only available in mainland UK.

Let me know what you think.

Kind regards

Hi

Looking at getting the Denon AVR-x2500h and wondering if your demo office would be open on the 2nd March as I would like to see it and hopefully buy it as compatible with Amazon Alexa. I can see the Yamaha RXV485 (Black) is also Alexa compatible but only one hdmi and looking for more

Would your demo office be open on the 2nd March as driving up from Dublin for the day

Hi Irish Gunner.

We have now manager to get our demo room back open and fully operational.

A demo of the AVRX2500 on March the 2nd is no issues at all.

If you want to PM with your name and a contact number I can pencil you into our Demo diary.
Do you know at what time you might arrive with us so we can book that hour out for you.
