Even the British media admits Hezbollah had changed the war against IIS for the better.

You're a neo-Con so it's not suprising you support America no matter what they don and choose to ignore what is in front of you.

Yes, I'm a big supporter of many things.

    Who pretends to be left-wing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,851 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

I'm a big supporter of Palestinians right to a proper state of the 67 borders. But Hamas are bad, maybe quasi-Fascists like the UDA or LVF who both of the extreme right & killed people becauase of their religion.

No, not even close to the LVF, they are way more extreme than them.

Not to go Godwins a bit but you'd have to go to groups like the SS.

    varified anti western propaganda

And your second mistake calling someone a neo-con really makes you look even less knowledgeable about Syria .

You’re not an actual neocon but they inform your ideology.

The real question is why “pro-westerners” are pro Israel.

Israel refuses the UN order to hand back the Golan, and the war they supported in Syria gives them a stronger hold on the Golan. There's supposedly oil and certainly water in the Golan, so apart from it's strategic value and lebensraum for Israel there's that.
Everything that harms the SHia is of benefit to Israel. The EU and NATO sheepishly follow the manufactured wars there even if it means Germany spends 20 billion per annum to cater for it's new migrants from the wars Germany supported, it's of some small benefit to Israel. So mission accomplished, nothing else matters.
    Further to this
WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Thursday that the United States should recognize Israel’s authority over the Golan Heights, one of the world’s most disputed territories, reversing decades-long American policy and violating a United Nations resolution.

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian authorities detained a Syrian man on Friday accused of taking part in beheadings in Syria as a member of Islamic State, Budapest prosecutors and the European judicial co-operation agency Eurojust said.

The 27-year-old man, identified by Hungarian authorities as F. Hassan, is suspected of executing about 20 people in 2016, all family members of a person in Homs city who refused to join Islamic State, Hungarian prosecutors said.

“In a rapid intervention, coordinated by Eurojust, the Hungarian authorities have arrested a high-profile target suspected of committing terrorist activities in Syria, linked to the so-called Islamic State,” Eurojust said in a statement.

The suspect had refugee status in Greece, it said.

He was caught with forged documents in Budapest’s main airport on Dec. 30 last year, given a suspended prison sentence for human trafficking and other crimes, and ordered expelled from Hungary, Hungarian authorities said.

Is that the opposite of being beheaded?

Hah! But it is good news, even if they didn't manage to get rid of Assad for NATO and co. Imagine if that ideology took root in ME and started to influence Islam here in the West? I mean more than radical islam already does....

    They have lost contiguous territory.

    They are not defeated.

The Taliban had the living **** blown out if them and now years later control a majority of Afghanistan.

Much of Syria will never accept "rafida" Shia Assad as a leader.

The vacuum will be filled and Isis still have a lot of supporters and fighters.

They were planning for this years ago.

Assad forces control about 30% of the country and in a lot of cases the land they control in in the hands of foreign forces , with groups from Iran , Lebanon ,Russia holding the land , will they hand it back unlikely not .
Can Assad to anything about it no ,he hasn't got the forces or ability to face another multi year conflict on multiple fronts .
And that's before you have to deal with the soon to happen Kurdish state

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,236 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

Assad controls roughly two thirds of the country.

He is seen as a hero in Iran and of course a tool for Russia.

He is also in dialogue with the Kurds.

He was underestimated once, it would be quite foolish to do it again.

We are not talking about some loon General who seized power from within, he is an English educated doctor and an extremely intelligent and brutal leader.

He wasn't underestimated at all ,

He was weeks short of being dragged thorough the streets of Damascus ,until putin and Iran saved his ass ,
Here lies the problem Assad is stuck in Damascus he's a dead man anywhere else ,
Smart educated men who become presidents don't butcher their own populations ,don't launch chemical weapons attacks ,don't order the military to shoot and kill unarmed protesters ,
The Kurds with push ahead with statehood backed by Western nations ,
Assad will face justice either in the Hague or on his own streets , Russia gets its port and Iran believes it's a superpower ,
Till Iran faces its own population turning on the rulers or Israel does something extraordinary stupid

It is such an important point about Damascus being close to falling when Isis were stopped by Intervention.

They were close to fighting in Baghdad and having Damascus. 2 of the most important cities in the Arabic world and psyche.

Without that intervention, I believe they would have opened up new fronts, and been a on the street threat to States like Jordan and Arabia.

Assad will survive, for Russian and Iranian reasons but he'll never control all of it again.

Syria is no more ,it's a vessel state for Iran and russia to control when it suits them ,but what happens when the population turns on assad and who ever Iran and putin install as ruler more military intervention against a population that doesn't want Assad ,Iran or Russia deciding it's future ,

The future is bleak for the next several generations of Syrians

I believe she told them she was "quite famous" in Ireland.
She also said she doubted she'd face any charges

Of course he was, almost daily there were reports he was about to be toppled.

His response was to give interviews to the likes of the BBC in perfect english to respin his own PR. Even at that he was unique as a leader "dictator" in the region.
    Gatling wrote: »

Well that is part of his intelligence, he went to Moscow and Tehran, where as your usual dictator of the region would have bunkered up and pretended everything was ok.

He was in Tehran a few weeks and has stepped up his public appearances, as has his wife.

Brutal ones do especially when they know they can get away with it.

They tried that all ready and were ignored by Western Nations.

The most likely scenario is they will make an alliance with Assad to gain protections from Turkey.

The general consensus is he is actual stronger than ever now, lesser of 2 evils.

She identified as British a while ago in an interview. Apparently in her latest interview she has said she’s Irish and has Irished up her accent.

She is already in prison, great saves us the job and expense of putting her in prison if she tries to come back here.
Can you also imagine the expense of trying to watch her after her release as well?

Poor 2 year old child with her though.
That is the only person anyone should feel any sympathy for in this situation.

Has it been clarified why ISIS is not a proscribed organisation in this Country?
We charge people for IRA membership, why not ISIS?

To me it sounds like she had a fake Brit accent when hanging around the British contingent of isis -to try and fit in with that shower of utter trash- but now when it suits her she hams up the Irish paddy routine. Hopefully she never sees outside that camp.

And for her to say she’s famous? More like infamous like the nazi war criminals were in Germany.

The Government are saying it's going to be hard to get her back from a war zone, there's nothing we can really do to stop her but I'm baffled why they would put other people's lives at risk for an ISIS bitch.

Let her make her own way out of Syria with her mini terrorist.

The concern Coveney was showing for her would make one think she was just an innocent tourist who got lost.

Having to take her back is one thing but she can make her own way with her own funds. I hope though she is tried over there for any crimes she may have committed especially against Yazidi women. The vilest ideology the world has seen in many years and she chose to join it....
