Looks like my first mobile, 1998, free from the AA when I joined/ renewed my annual membership. Got about 8 hours from the battery IIRC.

Must say, I did get a lot of attention in class at the time. Other kids wanting to play games that no other phone had.

    2000, Nokia 5110. I was 11!

1999 - Philips Savvy on Eircell "Ready To Go" - I used it very sparingly as calls were 80p/minute peak, 20p/minute offpeak.

While the phone supported SMS, it was not until 2000 (I think) that Eircell provided SMS capability, which was initially free and then 10p per SMS.

Same here. Got nicked in the end if you can believe that! Fecking indestructible. I dropped halfway down an Alp ( ok, the foothills, but still) Not a mark and worked just fine.

Think I got mine about 95/96. Ericsson GA628. Replaceable key pad covers! I worked within the mobile industry from 2000 until 2018, so have been very lucky to have had nearly every cool phone out there!

Me too in 1998. It was also 088. You could only save 10 numbers on it and I don't think it was possible to send texts. My friend and I got one and just called each other because nobody else in our circle had one. We were 17 or 18. By 2000 everyone our age had one.

    98. Nokia 5510 I think. Upgraded a year later to an 8210. Still have the same number.

The fcukers ate through credit too.mine was on ready to go and they were the cardboard scratch cards with the number for the credit having to be scratched off to see it.

I programmed for WAP back around 99 too.
Bit ahead of the curve it was. But ultimately failed.

I think it was 1998, a Panasonic brick, with the Speakeasy plan on Esat Digifone. I still have the same number.

1993. This phone in this colour scheme. Ericsson 172 and also from D2 Mannesmann which was later taken over by Vodafone. It was the default phone for a lot of people in Germany at the time. Also had a Siemens C3 car phone. Contract at the time stipulated that I had to be reachable 24/7. Everybody thought it was cool, I detested it.

My first one also, I remember mine was 088 on Eircell also, I think it took 4 X AA batteries also if your charged ones ran out...

Then I got a Phillips Diga phone after that which was my first GSM phone...

Then a Siemens C25 after that....

I never really kept any of them unfortunately, be funny to see some of them now!

A Motorola in 2000. Not sure which model, maybe the T180. It could take AA batteries if you were stuck, but was otherwise a terrible, terrible phone.

Before that I shared an Ericsson GS18 with my dad.
