Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm highly confused by the IMRO fees.

If a song is played on RTE for example, are fees not already played for by RTE broadcasting it in ROI?

    Or highly Irish double taxation.

What I don't understand is who gets paid by IMRO in relation to money collected from premesis where radio is used to 'entertain' their clients. The copywrite fees for broadcasting have already been paid by the broadcaster.
They say that it's the songwriters who get paid. Most of the music played on Irish radio stations has been written by foreign writers, (many dead). Do they pay Adele or Ed Sheeran or Burt Baccarat or Mozart.
I suspect that there are a few alleged Irish songwriters making a tidy sum out of it.

I've got Da Choons thumping out every day in my workshop space. I sincerely hope IMRO come to visit so I can kick their arse.

This is what I don't get, the station has paid the fee for it to be broadcast in public, however they want the same fee again for it been again broadcast in public?

You'd wanna be mental to open a small business in Ireland, the government at your neck for taxes, councils for rates, rent and bills etc.., RTE at your neck for licence fees if you dare put a TV in the place, and now IMRO if you decide you want to put a few sound-waves out in the room, along with god knows what else comes knocking for money.

I'd love to see the details of the IMRO accounts. I'd say most of the money goes on salaries and 'expenses' with feck all going to the songwriters.

I know for a fact that feck all goes to songwriters. I do accounts for my cousin who is a very successful songwriter who gets about 300 euro a year from IMRO. Don't know what the hell they do with the rest of the money.

Sounds about right. You'd hardly think they would be putting artists at the forefront of payments!

I'm afraid not so to speak, even a taxi is supposed to pay them, €78.78 a year, it would be interesting how many taxi drivers pay this...

I just heard the first few minutes yesterday before going to a feeewnerdle, so to speak. He couldn't just deal with the sheriff's letter and IMRO. He had to bring 5 deaths into it.

Is any of the rest worth a playback?
