Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I really hope there's more to this call. Otherwise, Fup off !

Caller is quite correct. She'd be better off ignoring the law and getting experience driving, in order to pass the test. But that's agin the law and I doubt if the Minister cares a whit.

The joys of living in the countryside.

My 3 teenagers can drive to a good standard and have been driving on private property for the last 2 years. They are 13,15 and 17.

One of the perks of rural Ireland.

So......there was no point to the call at all ?

    Strange for Lahvlahn.

These injured animals shouldnt be moved at all.

Let them die in peace or find someone with a gun to finish them off. They could be carrying all sorts of disease too, another reason to just leave them where they are.
That would be my instinct too, if I came across an injured animal. Generally speaking they should be destroyed as they cannot reasonably be nursed without causing serious stress to them - they are not domesticated and should not be exposed to domestic conditions.

But with an increasingly urban population, a lot of people will assume that every sick and injured animal must be brought to a vet for treatment. We probably should have some scheme so that vets are (at least) not incurring expenses in treating these animals; I'd doubt there are any vets who seriously expect to profit from such work, but they certainly should be paid for treatment cost, assuming it was a necessary intervention.

There is one local woman (worth mentioning that she's not from the countryside) who regularly shows up at my family member's practice, or private home, with stricken hedgehogs, birds, and all sorts of wild animals.

The equipment required to treat these animals, let alone the cost of the medication, is quite expensive. I think a lot of people actually assume that vets get paid for this work just like a HSE doctor, when obviously it's completely unpaid.

Having a trannie in the cabin next to you is a sign you have made at Dublin Bus, I often see them proudly mounted beside the driver so to speak.

In Dublin, yes, and also the Blue Cross.

But deep in the countryside, I don't think so. I know my sister would never turn away a person with a seriously injured animal, nor would most vets. Even if they could bill the ISPCA, that's not exactly fair on the ISPCA either, and most are probably reluctant to do so.

But when it's a road safety issue, I think it's a no-brainer that professionals should be paid to remove a public danger.

I once brought a knocked down cat to the vets and some charity or other paid half the bill and I had to pay the other half so there must be some scheme or other out there.

probably completely topics, but as advertisied

    - Lotto targeting Children, buy your ma tickets
    - Waste in the public service !! but dealing with hospitals , not RTE
    - Taxi drivers having to pay for your music, should have plenty of angry taxi drivers today !!
    - Speed limiters in all cars from 2022 !! (good luck getting this in, my own opinion BTW)

More lotto bashing by Joe. Does he not know that you can't buy a ticket unless you're over 18? He should have qualified it by saying "adult children".

But shur there'd be no outrage and sensationalism in that.
