Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"Triggered by the delivery," says Joe, with all the medical authority a crash-course of back issues of the Readers' Digest can give.

Many posters here disparaging these women because they dare to speak honestly about their poor experience at the hands of rude and uncaring Irish nurses. The only positive review of them on the show came from someone who just happens to be a nurse.

This is horrific. A woman is most vulnerable in maternity care.

I had all my children in Limerick maternity and I couldn’t fault my care. They were superb.

    This is just awful.

"The baby came and I was there
She has all her limbs but not a hair
excuse me while I doff my hat
I believe I had a hand in that
on mondays she's got her mothers eyes
    on tuesdays its a compromise
and Wednesday she's like you know who
an I believe I should be calling you"
    Mick Hanley
This song stuck in my head now

Is it any wonder people go private when you can hear to the very common stories of heartless care from those who claim to be "angels run off their feet", yet they (Irish nurses) have the most "sick" days of all the public service while working double jobs as contract nurses. No discplinary action taken and no political will to change them or they'll hold the country to ransom on another strike.

as i said before its the timing of the topic that i find distasteful. if it was before the Cork case i would have no problem with it. but Joe knows what he is at and that is the reason why all of a sudden he has callers ringing in about their maternity care which in a lot of the calle'rs cases happened months ago or years ago.

If Joe ever deigns to run for the Aras or the Dail or the County council, all the groundwork will have been done.

The wimmin of Ireland will give their number 1.

Giving the wimmin with the bad birthing experiences a voice sotospeak :-)

I'm under no illusion that he has his own motivations for bringing up this topic, doesnt mean that its OK that there are people here that dont want this aired. Nurses unions are far far far too powerful and their PR on social media is often extremely deceitful.

Who said they were Irish nurses, its more than likely that they are non national.

Non nationals dont have the same manner as Irish nurses and their directness and refusal to pander to entitled nonsense could come across as rude. Irish nurses are in general warm and emphatic and this is the reason most people like being dealt with by Irish nurses and Doctors.

Your one with the four children would have been expected to get on with it, she hadnt booked into a four star hotel. If the nurses were short staffed they would have concentrated on the first time mother and thats the way things should be.

Pity this topic wasnt covered during the nurses strike.

Was unusual not to hear a variation of "The nurses are fantastic/brilliant/angels etc" on Liveline.

Yes, but RTE has the same vampiric relationship as the unions with the taxpayer so it is to be expected.

The assh.les that thought you could consolidate all the hospitals in Munster jam it in to a renamed Regional hospital to university hospital is a joke. Eejits that have no idea. No parking hospital on the main road 2 lane ....I could go on. Consolidation doesn't work. People driving 2 hrs to hospital.
