    Holy Jesus.

What kind of nurses/midwives speak to people like this?!

Absolutely awful, I’d be so very upset to be treated like that while pregnant after a m/c and in significant pain.

Bear in mind, you are hearing ONE side of the story.

Most likely well embellished with a few extra fabrications over the years

And im sure nurses and midwives could come on and give plenty of stories of rude patients

    She's 7 foot 3 and she's small?
That's like when somebody tells Joe that they are 89 years old, and he says that's only young.

You could put her in your pocket.

If this show has taught me anything, it's that I'm genuinely a wimp. There's no way in hell I'd go through labour, not for all the babies in China.

I heard it as 7 stone 3 pounds, but that was probably my ears.

So they are effectively opting for no pain relief, to go it cold turkey.

Every doctor who isnt a registered specialist is a trainee. There are so-called trainee doctors with decades of experience.

That doctor will have been through medical school, has cut open cadavers, has seen childbirth - I don't think he fainted due to the childbirth. More likely he was exhausted.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭jeremyj1968

You were NOT treated as a second class citizen. Did you not listen to the doctor, you were not a citizen. :-)

Teach them well and let them lead the way.

this again? Do you want us to operate according to the standards of a probably-impoverished African country?

I don't understand this mentality. We are capable of operating to a high standard, we should start believing and expecting that of ourselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,468 ✭✭✭jetfiremuck

Gods sake......you try get the same in Africa and see what you get... The system is overwhelmed thanks to merkel.

This is disgusting, why on earth would you not go straight to a maternity hospital, it wasnt her first baby.

What could Doc on all do.

Is this the fourth full day now.

Why doesnt she go back to Australia, same with the African one before her, its ok, us Irish criticising our own but hackles rise with these non nationals, if their own systems are so wonderful then pack your bags and go back.

There's absolutely no doubt that there are major, major problems in the health system.

But the very obvious exaggerations and hyperbole doesn't help. It only serves to drown out the real issues in a sea of over the top nonsense.

I couldn't listen to the misery fest the last few days , and it's still going on . Joe is a ghoul !!

Should all the world simply stay for life in the country they are born in?

Yes and they should apparently put up and shut up with appalling treatment that is their own fault because they’re too fat.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

a lot of people find that talking about grief and trauma is therapeutic.

Maybe, but could they not just confine their theraphy to tales over a cup of coffee? Like what normal people do?

This isn't public service radio - it's just plain old tabloid 'journalism'.

As has been pointed out here more than once - labour is labour. It never was, is or will be a walk in the park. All the complaining will not change that one whit and the benefits lie the far side.

That and the fact some of these stories are 5,10,20 or 30 years old like picking a hotel I only look at the reviews for the last 6 months or so as there's probably a new regime in place in the now ..then again maybe im wrong..anyway these last few days he has the life frightened in any expectant mothers listening

I was listening-in yesterday at the home of a friend of mine, who was appalled at what she heard. Many women have had wonderful, positive birthing experiences.

I can't remember who said it, it may have been Catmaniac, but this topic (notwithstanding the ghoulish preoccupation of the host) actually might get traction within the HSE. Doing so it might change some outdated and insensitive medical practices. It might, to use that awful Joe-phrase, cause medics to 'check' themselves. And if it does, isn't that a wonderful thing!?
