Medic: "Paddy you're out until December"

    PFP: "See you f***ing October"

I think Munster need to start marketing this PFP lark, they could make a fortune!

Well we know various media personalities, "influencers" and admins lurk on here (hi all!) so who knows, maybe one of them will make things happen...

Interesting short clip with George Murray on Access Munster giving some snippets of pre & post match analysis.

Pre Covid the MRSC were talking about a session with him for members, I'd love to see more close ups on what he does to prepare for the next game

George comparing our stats between the pool game and the QF v Glasgow was like night & day

Fair play to Kleyn, in International Rugby wilderness for the last few years, gets an option to play for his home country, grabs it with both hands and is now a RWC Champion.

Himself and Coombes have been our best players of the last two seasons and, for me, didn't get the recognition they deserved for their performances by coaches at a higher level.

Y’know something TRC? I consume a lot of rugby content.

And I don’t think I’ve seen a single photo, tweet or article about this “heroes welcome” you keep going on about.

Great opportunity for Munster to build on the success of last year. What would be deemed a successful year this year in terms of URC and Champions Cup?

On another note, when do the two lads contracts end with Munster?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 10,770 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

I think they’re both contracted til end of this season. Be interesting to see what happens then. Edogbo and Ahern will both have another year under their belt.

For me, successful season would like something like continued improvement with the play style, fewer periods where the defence drops off (the 3 games after Christmas where we shipped 30+), continued use of the young players in the squad, in particular Crowley with more gametime at 10 and top 3 of URC.

A European semi would be a good goal to aim for too.

Great opportunity for Ahern and Edogbo to learn from the two. Having a strong front 5 goes a long way to winning games. With Ryan back at TH, Munster have a strong core. Plenty of experience throughout the team and throw in Crowley at 10. Very exciting time. Looking forward to watching them this season.

I’d probably add more gametime for Salanoa and Knox.

Front row is our weakest area of the pack (tho I really like Barron; wheels) but our back 5 build means they can go about their business well.

Tho Archers improvement and form towards the end of the season was huge.

Heavy rain before kick off, pitch is gonna be draining on the legs today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

RTE commentary think penalty was very harsh on the Benneton prop...... he wasn't the one who conceded the penalty you deaf something or others......🙄

Josh Wycherley drops out due to a knock, Kieran Ryan starts & Mark Donnelly comes onto the bench.

Poor enough start from Munster, alot of mistakes so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Yeah very scrappy. Lacking a bit of directness too, or some kicking to cause some more indecision in that Benetton defence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

Munster not playing the conditions at all. No tactical kicking whatsoever and trying to play from 50m out.

Carbery throws a carbon copy of his forward pass from last week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Lineout is a mess. Seems like the caller and hooker aren't in sync.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,179 ✭✭✭OldRio

First try of the game and Benetton deserve it. Munster just not at the races this half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭letowski

Very poor by Munster. Playing too much rugby in these conditions and making mistakes. You’d expect better, especially with Carbery’s experience. 10 points feels a big lead in a game like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

There was an awful lot of crabbing in the backline during the first half. Scannell and Frisch weren't fixing defenders before passing. Benneton were able to drift off and cover the wings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭budhabob

This is a very tough watch. Look amateur.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,555 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Are they actually serious with this lineout?

Wow this is a pretty awful display from Munster nothing going right all due to their own mistakes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,179 ✭✭✭OldRio

This is not good. I'd be emptying the bench to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

No line out, mediocre scrum, no back play, literally cant hold onto the ball. On what universe do they think this performance was ever going to be good enough?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

    **** kick from Carbery.

    Munster should make some changes,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

I genuinely dont see how Munster win this game. This is a complete shambles in every aspect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

Forgot to add the kicking and discipline is also a shambles. Literally no redeeming feature from this performance.

Nankivell will at least give some Munster direction in midfield. Their 10/12/13 have gone side to side all day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

They'll be fine. Benneton are conceding a lot of penalties. Sort out the lineout and they'll have a platform to win the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

It doesnt matter how many penalties they concede when Munster are incapable of putting anything together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

The worrying part from this is Benetton really arent that good, they would have eaten us alive with this performance last season, but Munster are just so lacklustre that they are incapable of firing a shot. If Munster were just 7/10 here they'd win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Finally a bit of directness from Nankivell and Munster make some ground in attack.

Carbery has no idea what to do, missing alot in that last set if phases.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Munster look so much better when making direct carries.

Nit done enough if it today.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,555 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Absolutely wretched stuff in the last 10 metres. Why oh why are they just passing it to static runners to walk it into contact over and over again?

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

It's almost like the Munster players have had a bet of who can drop the ball the most times and then proceed to get destroyed in the resulting scrum.

Only a matter of time before Benetton finally make us pay.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Ahern having a decent game since coming on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

The Munster player knocked that on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭budhabob

Good to see that determination and stubbornness even when playing that poorly. A draw certainly wasn't deserved, but it was well earned.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭letowski

As bad as Munster were, they did dominate enough of the second half to get a draw. I’d like to see a few changes the next day, Ahern, PP, Nankivell in particular were much better than the starters.

Questionable going to the line 3 or 4 times and not taking their points, particularly 10 down. May have cost them a win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Shehal

Snatched a draw at the death. Dont think it was deserved but we'll take it.
