Any word on how bad Hodnett's leg injury is?

Great crowd. decent game and as expected Munster As had bit more power and able to up pace/tempo bit more than clubs whose set piece was under lot of pressure at times which hurt their ability to play but no surprise about that

Duggan very in from the side there

I don’t agree with that decision tbh but we’ll take it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,334 ✭✭✭theVersatile

    Thats serious ruck speed

RG on his first home start!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,334 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Frisch's alleged replacement not covering himself in glory there

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,151 ✭✭✭letowski

Lovely try by Nash, really skint Tom Farrell on the outside there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,334 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Thats big after an auspicious start

nash and now beirne have been over the ball and should have gotten a peno but never given.

Poor reffing that puts players unnecessarily in line for injury

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,151 ✭✭✭letowski

Beautiful play by the in-form Zebo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Sounded like O'Mahony and Beirne were making that exact point to the ref.

Great result! Move up to 2nd but it will be only briefly unless Ospreys cause a massive upset

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,378 ✭✭✭✭phog

Great evening for rugby, dry ball, sunny evening, great crowd. It wasn't a classic but some great tries. Connacht will be disappointed to not have scored one or two more tries, one after Zebo chased back to put in a huge tackle, poor option later not to pass out to an overlap.

    Excellent result for Munster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 429 ✭✭Madeoface

Good result for Munster but not a fan of Zebo soccer player celebration at Murray's try. Trying to outdo the ash splash?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,378 ✭✭✭✭phog

The only downside for Munster is Crowley's & Ahern's injuries.

Zebo is having some great games for Munster, a few excellent passes/offloads tonight and a few brilliant tackles, at least two try saving tackles.

Nash is having a great season. Fantastic player.

Celebrating someone else scoring is a little easier to take.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Bustiest day's work for RG Snyman since..... ?..….... circa 2017??

Love seeing POM and the lads copying his little sneaky flick offloads.

Nank was outstanding at 13, and even still, Frisch brought things up a level when he came on.

Nash, JOD and Zebo all with great games too.

You needed worry when Zebo retires that's the last of the players playing the game with a smile on their face & some bit of a personality.

It's a personal choice but I always liked the confidence he has to match the bit of flair.

A bit like the studio analysis it's gone out of the game

Personally I thought the Ash Splash was fine. If you don't like it, then stop them scoring.

Zebo has been truly excellent the last few months. Seems like a completely different player from the last couple years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 429 ✭✭Madeoface

Bollox. I don't like anyone doing it. It's embarrassing. I could just about see Finn Russell do it cos he's an enigma. Zebo is not. Under achieving enigma perhaps.

Good to see him play well in the twilight of his career but that kind of **** is awful. Imagine the reaction if James Lowe did that shite in thomond?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Hmmm, Zebo has always been light-hearted enough throughout his career, so I don't think it was out of character.

Dodgy celebrations aside, his handling skills are up there with the best I've seen, great playmaker and passer. He had one lovely wristy pass across the defence to set someone free down the wing to go with the feint and give later. The kids love him too, nice to see a bit of personality on the pitch.

I don't think he's that different a player to be honest, he's just doing what he does. If he was less flash he'd probably get more credit to be honest, scoring rate alone is incredible (not this season, mind… but he has created).

Would still have Haley ahead of him but a great squad member in his twilight

There was an error displaying this embed.

Astute observation about the studio analysis, it's gone the Sky Sports bland platitudes route completely now. I tune out a lot now pre and post match

what ? Imagine the reaction on the Munster thread “if Lowe did that shite in thomond” ?

We get it, You dont like Zeebs, and the way he shows his enjoyment of the game. Now , move on.

Pre match yesterday, Kleyn was interviewed in the ground, he said he's back running and hopes to be back training in the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,151 ✭✭✭letowski

We’re in a good place coming into the business end of the season. A lot of those mid-season injuries have started to clear up, our key players are in good form and finally have some cover/impact off the bench. I think we should be able to mount a good defense of our title.
RG Snyman has been very good this past month, just brings a whole different dimension to our attack and is excellent at scoring from close range. Himself and Beirne form a true world class second row pairing and I think we’ve been seeing their influence this past few weeks.

Great to hear. Was starting to really worry about that eye injury. Had no idea he had gone for an elective surgery on something else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,430 ✭✭✭KaneToad

I've been critical of Zebo many times. I'm not a Munster supporter either. But I don't see much wrong with that try run in/celebration. It was exuberant and jolly. On a sunny day. At home. With a big crowd.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,334 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Love this. The thing I love the most is the fact he gets his head on the right side of the tackle. Too often in these scenarios you see guys getting their head across a guy's knees trying to make a big hit into touch. This is just class technique

  • Registered Users Posts: 499 ✭✭Rugbyf565

Nankivell has a higher ceiling than Fekitoa for me. Don’t get me wrong, Fekitoa was brilliant and very powerful but Nankivell seems to have a higher work rate and is overall more consistent. Fekitoa was also approaching the tail end of his career and was frequently more injured as a result.

It seems to me Zebo's just a good-natured guy having fun. I don't get any sense at all that it's Delon Armitage-style rub it in the opposition's faces type stuff.

Personally, I think he should be going on this tour to South Africa if Keenan is unavailable. Zebo, JOB, Hansen, Lowe and Stockdale as back three options, for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Nash might have maybe earned a slot I'd have thought?

    I was thinking:

    LW: Lowe, Stockdale

    RW: Hansen

    FB: Keenan/Zebo, JOB

With JOB being the back-up right winger. 6 back three players would probably be overkill on a two-game tour. I suppose Nash could be seen as the man in possession of the jersey ahead of Stockdale, but he's not really competing with the fullbacks for a slot.

Under achieving 🤣 hes the 2nd highest scorer in european cup history. Id love to hear what overachievving is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭ersatz

    .

larmour has definitely put his hand up for a look in. Best season he has hard since his heyday

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭RichieRich_89

    Yeah, I suppose so.

Personally, I think Stockdale's a gun player, so I'd be trying to include him over Nash and Larmour.

I can't see Farrell actually selecting Zebo at this point.

Maybe there will be only one specialist fullback and four wing slots, with Larmour (from the wing) or Frawley (from outhalf) covering fullback.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭50HX

I agree, not a chance Zebo will get another look in at international level

Neither Frawley or Larmour are international standard FB imo.

Its the one position that Farrell has no confidence in any other player bar Keenan, similar to 10 pre world cup but let's not go there😁

Rumours on Munsterfans that Eanna McCarthy is joining the Leinster Academy (having also had offers from the other two provinces)

A loss but it seems we have a decently stacked underage selection at back row for this age grade, so someone had to lose out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,544 ✭✭✭ulsteru20s

Its a bit of a weird one in that the small bit i've seen of him he looks like a 6 with a good lineout game. Isn't that Corrigan? They are the same age and Corrigan was in the u20s.

I expected Leinster to go after Murphy maybe. They do have a weird gap in their back row development right now underage. Munster won't be able to keep all these guys. Its a pretty insane spell of upside in 3/4 years.

The cynical side of me says that a big part of irish squad management long term is persuading in demand u19s to wait for next year, and maybe Munster will end up keeping him.

On the other hand there does seem to be a bit of a trend of guys moving in their u19 year and not waiting, and fair play to them.

    underachieving?

    Over 200 Club caps

    35 Irish caps

    Lions Tour

    Six Nations winner

    2x league winners medals

Hes broken records in European Rugby and won trophys at every stage of his career.

At 34 he looks as dangerous as when he was 24.

    If thats underachieving….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,617 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

    A gun player?

As in he gets lots of chances to rediscover his form but shoots himself in the foot?

No way Stockdale is ahead of nash. Not in a month of tuesdays

  • I've seen him for UCC a few times, and thought he'd an outside shot at the Irish U20s last year (a year young). I rate him highly, but understand that at Munster right now you're pretty clogged up with good prospects in that kind of 5.5/6 mould.

I'd be delighted to see Leinster sign him.

Zeebs has always being class and plays with a smile on his face and the little bit of magic that so many others lack. On here some fella’s can help embarrassing themselves 😇😇😇

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,378 ✭✭✭✭phog

Since Round 10, Munster have got 29 out of an available 30 points. At the time we were tied with Ulster & Ospreys in points but with one less match won do we were in 9th place with Connacht hot on our heels.

The trip to SA was excellent for us.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,208 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

It's actually 34 out of 35 points. 7 wins in a row with 6 BPs since the R10 win away to Scarlets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,378 ✭✭✭✭phog

True, I had excluded that game as I had the table from those results and compared it to the table after the Ulster game.

Very impressive whatever way you look at it.
