I missed the start, I'm curious to see the Snyman incident. Hopefully see it now at HT.

Edit: just saw it, lucky to stay on pitch...but great try.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,458 ✭✭✭kuang1

That 2nd ulster try was as close to an own-goal as you'll ever see in rugby.

    Fcukin disaster!

  • Registered Users Posts: 711 ✭✭✭rodders999

Crowley kicking the goal line drop out out on the full was brain dead and incredibly costly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭theVersatile

We are so unclinical in their 22. Just keep throwing the ball away after great play to beat them wide

  • Registered Users Posts: 94 ✭✭iwasliedto

    What was that penalty for?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

No clear release if your feckin blind!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

Bar the obvious yellow red card incident we have got nothing out of Frank

  • Registered Users Posts: 711 ✭✭✭rodders999

Crowley stinking the place out, absolutely awful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Thats an astonishing try. Prendergast ball in all it's glory

Hodnett will dread the review of that one

    Cracking match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭KaneToad

Are these Ulster performances purely down to Richie Murphy?!

    If so, he's some man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,726 ✭✭✭clsmooth

    Two great tries. Great game

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

    Hos that not a penalty!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭budhabob

We're a better team with Ahern, Hodnet & Coombes..all for impact from the bench, but they're having to catch up now.

    Jager dominating at scrumtime

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Need to be a bit cuter there. Last thing Clarke needs fresh off the bench is a 15m throw

They weren't a million miles away, I just think the dressing room weren't hearing McFarland and Co.

But this Ulster certainly has very evident Murphy fingerprints on them.

Crowley looked like he wanted to take the points.

Strong decision and maul there. Need to get some more points now given how leaky we've been.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

    great turnaround!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,341 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Always the hardest way with us, but we'll take it!

The bomb squad tactic has really been the difference in the past few weeks.

Cannot wait to watch that Nash try back on repeat in full.

    Inject it into my veins.

For sure. Ahern, Coombes and Jager all had unreal performances off the bench.

Seriously impressive win considering the two lads missing from midfield. Casey was excellent and Crowley showed great mental strength to put that performance in the second half after a wobbly first half.

Credit to Ulster too, they showed real grit at times, backrow in particular were great. I'd be surprised if Izuchukwu isn't firmly in the radar of the national selectors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

John Ryan covering loosehead might be a very effective hack for the knockouts. Scrum continued to look great when he came on, and he'll have plenty to offer around the park in a cameo.

I dunno lads I had a look at the RG incident again, it looks more head to shoulder than all the commentary being other way around.

He didn't wrap his left arm for a tackle because I think he just stood his ground, Addison was the one leaning into a "non" tackle.

Is the onus on RG then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,815 ✭✭✭irelandrover

I think if it's Adisons fault then it's a rugby incident and play on. When a penalty is given then I think it's a minimum yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

Happy with that win, we were poor enough at times, a few poor passes or link ups but we did enough to the BP win and defended enough to keep Ulster out of position for a DG that could have pinched the game from us.

I thought Frank/TMO got the RGS tackle wrong, I couldn't really see the screen but it looked a YC to me.

Anyway, we top the table, again deservedly so, those wins in SA in particular stand out.

Quarter final v Ospreys on at 7:35 on Friday 7th June. Not ideal timing for fans coming from Cork.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

I wonder why they went for Friday bit of a bummer but I suppose one had to be played on Friday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭50HX

Is it set in stone what weekends the semi & final are on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,868 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yeah, weekend of 14th and 15th for semi. Final is on 22nd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,868 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Yeah guess so, just luck of the draw. Hopefully means an extra day of recovery if we win and the semi is on a Saturday at least.

From a broadcasting POV it is probably going to be the least entertaining of the 4 quarter-finals, it would be expected that the table-topper would smash a team that barely made it into the top 8, with a points difference of -35.
The odds of Ospreys winning are probably the worst of all the teams.

Also, it gives Munster as the top team a well-deserved 1-day recovery advantage going into the semis and final.

I was today years old when I learned that the R in RG stands for Rudolph.

How have we not made "Rudolph the red-nosed pain-deer" a thing?

(kinda words on two levels as well…. causes pain, seems to always be in pain…)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

Our attack has improved with Mike Prendergast coming in but our D is the best in the league, we've conceded the fewest points in the league, 30 fewer than the next best.

Leamy can be proud of that achievement.

thought ulster dominated our pack in first half, with the Munster back row not making an impact in the game. Ulster targeted our centre pairing and got a lot of return on the inside channels.

Crowley had a few brain farts but always looks dangerous with ball in hand. Wouldn’t go with this “bomb squad” option for QF as it nearly backfired with even the supporters calmly waiting for subs to change game. Our strongest starting team is

    Loughman,scannel,jager,beirne,snyman,Ahern,hodnett,Coombes,Casey,Crowley,daly,Frisch,Nash,zebo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,631 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Its mad. We're also the number one team in the league for scoring from turnovers. Gone are the days where we put the ball up up our shirt and crash them over the line. A full strength Munster are an extremely dangerous team in counterattack because we are fast, have great ball handling skills and powerful ball carriers where they are most dangerous (Hodnett Coombes and Ahern)

Winning while playing exciting rugby is exactly what Munster needed and should see Thomond fuller week on week. Rowntree has done an incredible job since he took over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

Anyone any update on Ahern, he was hardly walking towards the end of the game with an ankle (?) injury.

He shouldn't be vital for next week but if we progress we'd need him

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

His availability could be very important if RG gets cited and banned

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,477 ✭✭✭✭phog

Barron was one of the extra players during the warm up yesterday so he can't be too far from being available to play for us again

That’s great for Barron, the two hookers that played against Ulster have been doing a mighty job since January, perhaps between the short turnaround to Friday it might be worth having Clarke start with Barron on the bench, and rest Scannell for the next round? Could start Scannell in the semi-final assuming we dispatch Ospreys.

The only thing about the Ospreys is that they’ve won 10 out of 18 matches which isn’t bad, and we’ve only won 13 out of 18 which isn’t a whole lot of a difference, they did have far easier shield games though.

Maybe we should have a petition for Zebo to postpone his retirement for a year, playing great. Full back was always his correct position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,663 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

I thought Munster played well. Not great but, enough to see it out. That's the hallmark of championship level teams.

Joy neville was citing commissioner so no way RGS gets cited

Do you feel shes a particularly lenient citing comissioner or what?
