You just knew when that scrum was given that Connacht would get a penalty from it.

Munster are just so easy to play against atm, whenever they put you under pressure they will inevitably relieve all the pressure from a soft penalty.

I think Munster could play until tomorrow and not score a try.

Munster have no carriers that can get over the gain line. Started just outside Connacht's 22 and eventually ended up getting penalised inside their own half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭Shehal

Side to side, side to side and then either penalty/knock on/**** pass etc. Connacht arent much better only difference being Munster will interrupt this process by giving away a cheap penalty.

Worked a lovely score early in the half from playing clever box-kicking.

Resort back to the aimless coast-to-coast attack, and concede a score.

Decision making needs to be a lot sharper.

    Going nowhere.

    And again. Very annoying.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,175 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

The most useless brainless Munster performance I have seen in a while. Playing rugby in your own half against a gale force wind.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,749 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

Clear high tackle on zebo ignored out on the wing!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Yeah, you think we'd atleast bring on Patterson if we were going to start attacking from midfield with a three point deficit.

No need to abandon the kicking game there.

Connacht havent been up to much either but in the last 20 mins have been smart, just do nothing and let Munster self destruct which they've inevitably done, this is now 6 points and a miss penalty in this last 20 from just Connacht waiting for the Munster penalty.

Some amount of foul play in this game, slippery conditions probably not helping.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,379 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Sums the second half up for Munster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,169 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Some of the clear outs this game have been reckless. Two bad ones have led to injuries for JOD and Hansen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,584 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

How bad is the sub hooker that he wasnt given ten minutes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭Shehal

The one thing consistent about Munster today is how sh!t Buckley has been in the line out, almost to the point you can see the error before it even happens, this has been a borderline cowardly performance from Munster and they should all be ashamed of each other, just gave up this 2nd half.

The lineout has absolutely imploded today, so much so we give away our losing BP. Shitshow. Coaching ticket need to really look at our plan, basics lacking when we can't play a tempo passing game.

How butler ever throws a lineout again for Munster shoukd be investigated. He is truly awful.

After winning the URC last season this is shaping to be one of the worst seasons we've had. We'll be lucky to qualify for Europe next year at this rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭Shehal

Lol Munster kicking the ball back to Connacht at the end when they still have a chance of a LBP sums them up, they had waved the white flag with 25 minutes to go, it took Connacht long enough to realise this and punish us.

Kicking the ball long after the clock has ticket over while chasing the bonus point.

Woeful for weeks now.. yes injurys play a role but everything looks laboured and predictable. We will lose to Toulon and then Northampton and struggle to qualify for next years

I don’t understand how you can give a professional contract to a hooker that can’t even fulfill the most basic requirement of the position. And he plays the 80 minutes. Clarke who was released by this club a couple of years ago, comes straight in and is ahead in the depth chart after a couple of weeks. Just a mess.

That's what happens when the Academy values size/power over skills. The amount of physically large, but absolutely average players which have come through the Munster system in the last ten years is incredible.

Just a terrible night at the office.

More injuries, aimless attack, poor decision making, set piece a complete liability.

Some issues can be fixed, others really are concerning.

THAT SAID - two points off a home QF is still (I'm pretty sure) a much better situation than we were in this time last season.

Following the Heino it's Scarlets, Zebre, Ospreys, Cardiff, and you'd have to fancy a decent return of points there.

Hopefully Jager is not too bad, and we get some bodies back for Toulon in two weeks.

We've been absolutely awful this past month. The rot started against Bayonne a month ago and we haven't arrested it yet. So many so called senior players way below par. Think we're witnessing the slow death of Conor Murray, he has been atrocious since the WC.

Lineout is a shambles. Lots of bad throws by Buckley today but Tadhg Beirne has to cop a lot of the flak too. He's the senior player there and seems to be lost calling the lineout.

The experiment of Aherne at 6 too hasn't worked. We're playing him and Coombes out of position to facilitate it and we're losing Coombes' carrying as a result.

Connacht did well today. They out fought us up front, did well in the lineout in poor conditions and played smart rugby. We did nothing well and were well beaten as a result. We had Connacht on the ropes a few times in the 1st half but a shambles of a lineout let them off the hook.

We're in for a season in the challenge Cup and that's where we belong with performances like that. The injuries don't help but there's plenty of senior players out there misfiring too.

Poor performance, butler did well and was the better of the 3 out halves on show.

Zebo was class , as always.

buckley had a very poor day , he is 4th choice hooker, but would be best for him to go back to AIL and get his confidence back on track. Didn’t help that we had only one recognised lineout jumper on the pitch and everything had to go to Aherne , with JOD a low option.

Connacht are a nasty bunch, the booing by them on the JOD injury was awful

At least Munster should be able to welcome back a few players over next few weeks Munster, but with Hager and JOD now out, its one step forward and one step back. Any one of Barron or Scanell would hasbe make a big difference to todays game.

they just need to regroup and see what the next match brings, much like last year i suppose.

    the only way is Up.

Referee coaching instead of just reffing is starting to get out of hand.

The clear out on JOD was horrendous in my book. A potential career ender. Officiating team failed in duty of care.

Busby allowed an absolute mess develop at breakdown and injuries resulted.

Buckley could never throw. Absolutely appalling effort today.

Injuries are catastrophic now. Josh and Moore then being left sitting on the bench when the starters are flogged.

    Just a total mess.

Very big questions over management and coaching team now.
