I’m not convinced, although he definitely looks fitter

I watched him with interest at the Sportsground. Yes, he was efficient under mainly uncontested high balls, this should be non-negotiable for full backs at this level. His metres carried probably looked good but I don’t remember him beating any defenders. The play which I think shows he is far from international standard was in the second half, he collected under no pressure about 15 out from his posts, ran diagonally, breakdown close to touch near half way. Iirc possession was lost

Yes, he was efficient under mainly uncontested high balls, this should be non-negotiable for full backs at this level

Given the conditions tho, he does deserve praise for his performance. Even Keenan in the Leinster game, who's usually imperious under the high ball, struggled in Thomond in similar conditions.

Munster have started well enough here, but seem to be replicating mistakes of previous games and trying to play too much from deep in their own half.

who is impersonating Crowley today? this guy wouldn't get a game with Cork Con.

Great broken field running from Toulon, but poor attacking kick from Crowley to give away possession

Brilliantly taken. Bit of a nothing kick by Crowley but what a run by their winger.

    That was like sevens there

Think Crowley still the front runner for the Ireland shirt but not doing himself any favors here so far…

Don’t think there’s any other credible option to start at 10 with Ross Byrne out injured.

Nice strike from Crowley. Munster off & running.

    Great try.

Coombes playing well back at 8. Nankivell has been excellent. Niall Scannell making a big impact too.

    Tasty.

That’s a beauty of a kick from Crowley. Zebo getting all the the plaudits but that kick was right on the money under pressure.

Great last 20 mins from Coombes there, some good carries and excellent passes.

Great to be ahead by 4 at ht considering the start. Niall Scannell has been excellent for a guy just back, his set piece work is a huge upgrade over Barron’s.

Munster can win this, Toulon look dis-jointed and are reliant on individual talent to make plays.

He’s had some nice runs but threw a poor pass behind Nankival which resulted in a turnover penalty and I think 3 points to Toulon.

Really good half from Munster. Pack looks more balanced with POM restored and Coombes at 8.

Toulon have some quality but guilty of forcing things. You feel like if Munster keep it a tight game with 10-15 to go, Munster will have more heart to see it home.

He has been everywhere in the first half. Ripping ball, tackles, ruck work, making metres.

    Thought that went forward

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,988 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Wow... BP is on...! Aherne really is lethal out wide.

Nash is really putting his hand up

Thought it was a knock on on first view

  • Registered Users Posts: 673 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

Great carry from Ahern to finish that score. Biggar whining sweetens the moment.

Get in there Tom Ahern you big sexy bastard.

You’d feel aggrieved if you conceded that but at the same time it’s splitting hairs to find a definitive knock on. Delighted to see it given in this case!
