Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Samsung GT-P3110 - updating beyond 4.2.2

A colleague at work has given me a Samsung GT-P3110 tablet that is running Android 4.2.2 with the hope I can update the version of Android so that it can run Snapchat for her daughter.

I have done some research on this and understand the basic steps involved (e.g. rooting, flashing the ROM) but it seems that many of the tools involved in this are now obsolete or not available.

I'd be very grateful before I set off on a very time-consuming adventure if someone could confirm if this is a viable proposition and what the most painless way forward is please?

    TIA.

Here is the best XDA guide to follow, the tools are basic and old yes but not obsolete - just work for this particular device. You will need to root / install a custom recovery first. All files are listed as XDA attachments so you just need to sign up if you are not registered yet. Both links below:

It's quite doable, I put LineageOS 13 (Android 6.0.1) on a P5110 (the 10" Tab 2) a few weeks back. Once you get TWRP installed it's basically very straight forward.

Word of warning though, even with the most stripped down version of Google Apps this is going to be slow. I basically just use mine for Microsoft Word/PowerPoint and even that can be ponderous.

Very much so, it's a (nearly 7 year) old generation tablet that was only "ok" at the time it was released. Just look at it compared to a Fire HD 7 which can be got for €35.

Tablet successfully updated and Snapchat working away nicely - not too slow either. Thanks for the help!
