Swallows feeding well tonight with plenty of insects about in this fine warm evening in Kerry.

Fantastic shot Meteorite, i've been trying, unsuccessfully, to photograph a Swallow in flight for a long time but they're just too fast, any tips?

Ah thanks glaswegian, was finding it very hard too to get one in flight, good light yesterday evening ( had the sun over my shoulder ) and set the shutter speed to either 1/800 and was using the telephoto lens at about 350 mm ( crop sensor ) and ISO at 100. Best result was lining up a shot on it's flight path and fired off a few as I locked on, took loads of attempts and it is more cropped then I would have liked so a bit of unwelcome noise but hopefully I will improve my technique as I go on. I hope to go to the wetlands in Tralee some day, they often skim over the water feeding and dipping for a drink on the fly so that would be the shot to get!

Thanks Meteorite, maybe someday here in the north west we'll have enough light to be able to drop ISO to 100. weather has been shocking here lately.:D

bit of drama in the garden this morning - the battery in my DSLR is dead, so taken on a mobile phone through binoculars, which worked out better than i expected.

Stunning pics gzoladz. Do you mind me asking where in Dublin you got them?

Such an unusual spot these days. I’ve heard them recently but have only ever spotted from a distance.

Stunning gzoladz, never seen owls up close in the wild, a couple in the distance all right. What a capture.
