    Hi all,

We are considering moving to Kilcock, the main sticking point is the length of commute to Dublin. It's a lovely little village...anyway we have seen in multiple places online and even on an ad for a house on Daft mention of a mystery Arrow train that gets to Connolly in <25mins.

I have seen Arrow as a brand has been discontinued and can only see a few commuter trains that take around 50mins. Is this the best that we will get train-wise commuting in the mornings?

Is this faster train a Kilcock secret that we must do a secret handshake down a dark alley to find out about? Or more estate agent BS?

Arrow was never used as a brand on this route - it was the Kildare Toen line. The fastest trains are ones which do not stop from Maynooth in which make up the majority of services, and that's as fast as they get

Estate agents lying and generally making stuff up is not uncommon!

False advertising. For commuting, all trains take more than 50 minutes. The absolute quickest (39 minutes) is one train that arrives just after midday.

    EDIT: is this the one?

Irish Rail service 20 trains per day from Kilcock to Dublin with the Arrow train taking approximately 25 mins to Connolly Station.

There are 10 trains a day, not 20.

Thanks for the replies, much appriciated.

It's not a deal breaker but commuting to Blackrock will be a pain. Glenveigh are advertising this on their new builds.

Try the Irish Rail timetable - facts not estate agent nonsense.

I have been on the express trains that have taken me 25 minutes from Maynooth but not Kilcock and not during rush hour.

I think 28 from Maynooth is the shortest scheduled time. Add the journey time to kilcock and dwell time at Maynooth and delays in peak and it all adds up

Electric trains will be slightly faster (better acceleration and deceleration) when we get them and although the line beyond Maynooth won't be electrified, some of the services to there should be bi-mode and run on the overhead wires from Maynooth in

Not to hijack the thread but how is kilcock as a village?

Older threads on here arent exactly too positive. Is it a nice spot?

Kilcock is a grand wee village. New primary health care centre, a wee playground, plans for a new community centre announced recently and people are friendly on the whole. Good schools etc also. Public transport could be better but it's like that right around the country.

We're living here in kilcock almost 10 years. Never had any issues over that time.
I think it has the perfect mixture of having the village feel but having easy access to the bigger town (Maynooth) and the city.
Every year it got better with the addition of the Greenway, SuperValu, Lidl & Bujolle helping it along.
