Think they will cancel each other out with the wrestling so can see this fight staying on it's feet for the majority of it.

Usman looks to have the strength advantage anyway, fight is playing out as I predicted so far.

Just takes one shot from Woodley though, extremely dangerous man.

    Round 1 Usman.

Usman has exceeded my expectations so far.

    Usman is huge, Jesus.

Yeah he makes Tyron look small.

Usman has been dominant so far.

Pure domination by Usman so far.

Never seen anyone do this to Woodley.

Definitely a 10-8 for Usman, huge uphill battle for Woodley now.

Woodley needs to show some urgency in round 3. He’s thrown about 5 punches. Fair play to Usman though, not giving Woodley a second to breathe.

Those shots to the body were nasty

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

They're really over playing those body shots.

    They're mostly harmless.

  • Registered Users Posts: 112 ✭✭Johny Cage

    Woodley needs a finish.

Top class body work from Usman in the clinch in that round, and two awful separations from Goddard. Normally a huge fan of his but that was amateur level reffing, Usman was very clearly working in those situations.

WTF is Goddard at, stay out of it.

Don’t agree with that, those shots looked vicious to me and were coming from a good distance too for a clinch.

I can't believe Usman's cardio holds up, he has thrown far too much. Woodley can come on strong.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

    that Guillotine was never in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭ricero

They were huge shots by both men there

Woodley is goosed. Usman’s cardio is insane.

    Ref has been awful here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Woodley looks a broken man, fancy Usman to finish him off in the last. I knew Usman had good cardio, but I didn’t realise just how good it actually is.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

Usman could have ended that if he didn't go for the take down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,549 ✭✭✭jcd5971

Godard back to b leagues after this anyway, telling kamaru he's in a fight ffs

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

This is incredible from Usman, but wtf is Goddard at. Absolutely awful decision to stand them up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,485 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Really weird Woodley performance. Seemed out of it from early on. Very passive.

Usman very good all the same. Not who Dana would like to beat Woodley though I imagine.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,683 ✭✭✭Subcomandante Marcos

Woodley didn't even move for a high elbow there, he know's it's over.

Tyron will be absolutely disgusted with himself.
Stinker of a fight and a stinker of performance form Tyron.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

Was not expecting that at all.

This is the Woodley I remember from the first Wonderboy fight. Except even more hesitant. Total and utter domination. Really was not expecting this. Brilliant from Usman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Hugely impressive from Usman, seems like nobody here gave him a chance but I knew he could win it if he dominated the wrestling battle early on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,911 ✭✭✭SlowBlowin

I thought it was a great fight...

Looking forward to Usman vs Covington. When CC fought RDA he was constantly going forward and looked like he could go forever, exactly the same as Usman tonight. And then there is the local rivalry involved. And Colby is such a crazy entertaining character. Bring it on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

That was a masterclass in control and wrestling. I can't believe that level of cardio, that was an insane output.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭ricero

Scary stuff to do that to Woodley. Pure and utter domination. Don't see many at Welterweight at the moment that can stop that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

He was completely shut down by a superior grappler, credit must be given to the other side more than it’s taken away from Woodley IMO.

Woodley always waits for the big right hand, Usman knew that and made sure the opportunity didn’t present itself.

I've long thought Usman was the man in that div that has the
best chance against woodley and think he might just win it on pts by doing
that little bit more over five.

All I'm seeing is five rounds of both standing and think usman may do enough
to get a points win, whether he can take that right hand I don't know though but I think he can go harder for five than woodley.

I can't see it being entertaining but if it's even going into the fifth that won't be so bad.
That first round will be 5 mins of caution imo

Total domination that was incredible, wasn't expecting that though
    CC would probably beaten Woodley

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

Woodley literally had nothing, I really wasn't expecting that at all. Fair play to Marty from Nebraska

Complete demolition. Woodley can be a slow starter but he did absolutely nothing there, he seemed off. Props to Usman, 100% Usman is going to hard to stop.

"many people were saying could possibly be the best welterweight of all time".

No Joe, you said that, most people said GSP is by far and away the best WW of all time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,485 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Usman won’t sell many PPV’s but he’ll be tough to beat unless you can knock him out. His wrestling will be tough for anyone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

Delighted for Usman there seems a class act post fight.

Very different than his act from the last 12 months in fairness.

Joe to Woodley “thank you for a great performance tonight.” What?!!

    50-44. Sweet Jeebus.

Total class from both guys there.

Jasus rumble is looking chunkier than a snickers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

I wonder if Woodley would have beat 30% Usman

He's just on a (very) durty bulk.

Looking through the rankings and don’t see anyone that could beat Usman right now. Possibly Wonderboy on his absolute best day, but not likely.

Only welterweight I’d give any real chance against his after that is Rory, and we might never see that fight.

EDIT: Forgot about Askren as he isn’t in the rankings as of now. He’d definitely present a real challenge.
