I bought an Onkyo 606 from you a long time ago followed by the 515 (bit of a downgrade) a good few years later.

I have now upgraded to 4k with an LG 55 OLED (also bought from you) and I'm thinking of upgrading my amp to support 4K.

I have Mordaunt-Short Alumni speakers with centre, two floor standing fronts, 2 small rear and 2 small sides. These may not be set in the best positions so any advice on how to better use these would be great.

My only absolute requirement is for 2 HDMI outs to support a projector. I would like to have a noticeable improvement in sound compared to the 515.

The two amps I have been looking at are Denon AVRX2500 and Onkyo TXNR686. Can you give me advice on which would be best or do you have another suggestion?

    Hi MMCD98.

Thanks for coming back to us again.

If it was me I would go for the Denon AVRX2500. In my opinion it has the better sound quality over the 2 and with the added bonus of Heos built in. The Denon is very well reviewed and probably the most popular in its price point.

You could also consider the Sony STRDN1080 which is also very good. Coming in at 489 euro

    Hi Kenny,

Thanks for that. I’ll check out the Sony and see how it compares to the Denon. What is your opinion between these receivers? Also what is your boardie price for each delivered to Dublin?

    Thanks

    Hi MMCD98.

In my opinion the Denon just pips the Sony in the sound quality department.

The 429 Euro price on the AVRX2500 is already our best price on this one.
The STRDN1080 retails at 489 Euro. I could get to 475 on this one.
    Both prices include shipping.

Let me know once you have had a check over things.

Quick question - if I went ahead today is it possible to ship this tomorrow? I'm away most of next week!

Ok, thanks. I'm away on Monday to Wednesday. It's probably best to consider the different options over the weekend and get back to you on Tuesday. If I ordered on Tuesday would it be delivered on Thursday?

    Hey MMCD99.

If ordered on Tuesday I can have it delivered to you on the Thursday no issues.

There is also no problem taking a few days to think things over.

Drop me a post once you are ready.
