Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Attic Planning

    Guys
Can anyone suggest how one gets a new attic room certified as habitable, it's a new build that's already done and we wish to get the attic done in the coming months but everyone keeps saying you don't need planning once the velux are rear facing. Looking online to comply with fire regs etc theirs lots of criteria, wide enough staircase and fire door and velux which is escapable and floor space of 5 foot with an 8 foot height etc.

We want the house to be turned into a 4 bed as opposed to a 3 bed with attic space which is what most are sold as and doesn't really increase value as much as a advertised 4 bed if we sold down the line.

    Thanks in advance

Get an arch or engineer to do a survey and advise you

    As. BRyanF says.

Her architect or engineer out to see if the space is there after conversion to deem it a habitable space. It’s not just doors and windows. It’s fire alarm, floor separation and some work to all the other doors in the house.

am assuming it will be a 3 storey with attic so may not be financially viable.
