How anyone could think that it was a soft penalty I don't know? Shouldn't have counted that far of course but a definite penalty. Mustafi all over that type of incident as well, much like Xhaka commits idiotic fouls.

Wasn't a dive, definite penalty. Nicely put away.
Agreed. Once the offside wasn't given, it's a nailed on penalty. I can never figure out how Mustafi gets anywhere near a PL side.

It was very soft, ref had let so much go today but pulls that one.

No way it’s given opposite end, the Kane factor helped make the decision

Barged Kane in the back. Nowhere near soft. Previous incidents only have relation to 'consistency' but none to an individual decision.

I don’t care whether or not it was a pen, it was a gift from the linesman. Def offside!

It wasn’t a barge it was a nudge. Listen it’s an acceptable peno in the grand scheme of things, it was also offside

Because the foul was on Harry Kane doncha know. If he was the victim of a Keane-Haaland challenge the Einsteins on here would accuse him of playacting...

Linesman got himself in a bad position so couldn’t see around the players nearest to him.

Yes. I wouldn't describe it as a dive tbh, but sir Harry was clever forcing his way in front of Mustafi, and Mustafi dumb to make the contact that Kane was waiting for. He was offside though, linesman caught badly, and another example of the poor standard of officiating in the EPL.

In the context of the way this particular game has been refereed, it is soft. Taylor has allowed a lot of contact all over the pitch today. My point was the only way Spurs were going to get back into the game though.

Kane is 'clever'. Draws a lot of so called fouls and has some niggle about him. Probably great if he's on your team but by God I hate him.

That’s just stupid ****. The thread hasn’t descended into that crap

The was a soft peno there!

Ref went out of his way to even up the penos. He was definitely told they fúcked up the Spurs one.

    LLORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    Aubameyang bottles again.

That's a dive but I've no sympathy for Sanchez, he's constantly all over the striker.

Jaysus spurs could actually draw a game

Soft peno in both award and the taking. Own fault for not winning it now.

Shocking to award it and a shocking penalty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,985 ✭✭✭Soups123

Some end to a game that never took lite. Auba never looked confident

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,107 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

VAR will turn football into a non contact sport. Any arm on back of striker, they'll go down, in slow motion it'll look like a foul every time.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Vertonghen looked like he was level with Aubameyang when he took the penalty. Then he was in the position to clear the rebound. Possibly should have been a retake?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

In the modern game, that's almost always going to be a red card.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,220 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

He looked inside the box to me, so probably should have been retaken.

That's a bad tackle on Rose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Awful challenge from Torreira. How does McManaman not think that's a red ffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,764 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Refs been so bad for both sides today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,356 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    What the fcuk?

You can't be giving a straight red for that.

I didn't even think it was a foul during real time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Studs connect that high up the leg, always a red card. Players have to use their brain sometimes.

I don’t think even with VAR you’ll catch that. It’s kinda clever cheating you’d want your own players doing it

Didn't Rose do the exact same to Leno and yet he was still on the pitch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,737 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

Was an awful tackle, ref left with no choice.

Knee high, studs up, what else would you want him to do? Take his leg off?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,220 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Studs up that high, red card. Not sure what there is to argue there.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,449 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Am I alone in thinking that Rose possibly should have gotten a red for his challenge on Leno earlier? Similarly high with his studs up, only he caught Leno's chest.

Spurs got away with it big time out there. A penalty that should never have been given, and the Arsenal penalty should have been retaken for encroachment; Vertonghen was nearly level with Aubameyang when he was taking the penalty. And Rose could easily have seen red for his challenge on Leno.

He one the call studs weren’t up, what about Rose studs to keepers chest?

It’s allow but only if trying to score. Neither where reds

2 points dropped there unfortunately. Arsenal were vastly superior but Lacazette and Aubameyang were hugely wasteful.

    How bad was the officiating?

Go and watch it again. It was the trailing leg that made it look worse. It was a yellow same as Rose.

If you don't think it's a red card head to Specsavers immediately.

    Almost connects at the knee.

England’s Harry can do no wrong in the eyes of referees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Poor game, and poorly refereed IMHO.

That shouldn't be a red card, he's hooked the ball away, and any contact subsequent is incidental, and terrerra hadn't followed through or applied any force to it. The Arsenal penalty was a poor call too, clearly influenced by the award of the first one, clearly a dive by Aubameyang.

As I said earlo, officiating in the EPL is very poor. Not helped of course by players exaggerating, cheating and diving, but poor judgement and random decisions now play a big part in too many games.

Depends, were you on the officiating team for the match today? If so then very likely yes, you are alone.

Otherwise, definitely not. Both were reds.

It didn't need the trailing leg. What the leading leg did was bad enough all by itself.
