Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

England’s Harry can do no wrong in the eyes of referees.

Not sure if you're talking about something that happened earlier, i might not have seen that. I'm just talking about the Torreira challenge.

If you don't think it's a red card head to Specsavers immediately.

    Almost connects at the knee.
Slow motion makes minimal contact look bad. Look at normal speed, angle of the foot he hooks the ball. No follow through or pressure on the leading foot.

Stick up the Rose one there?

I just can't understand a word kane says someone get the lad some Sudafed.

It didn't need the trailing leg. What the leading leg did was bad enough all by itself.

Look at it at normal speed he hooks the ball, his foot isn’t following straight through. All on BT saying the same

Vertongen was nearer the penalty spot than the edge of the box when the penalty was taken. He also went on to make the clearance afterwards.

Good to see Jenas and Keown staying impartial!

It was reckless and dangerous from Torreira, fair enough red. Whether he won the ball or not doesn't matter. Way too much force in the tackle, he wasn't in control and endangered Rose.

Rose should have been off himself earlier though. Extraordinary that he can plant his studs in Leno's chest at full stretch and only get a booking. See attachment

Neither penalty should have been given, the ref missed Vertonghen encroaching to prevent Aubameyang from scoring the rebound, and he missed about 5 clear yellow cards. Abysmal refereeing.

BT Sports ref looks at all decisions and surprise surprise backs the officials lol

Auba was never a peno, minimal contact

If Leno was standing, it might have been a red. Being in a crouched position the referee perhaps wrongly hesitated as to how high he was.

Saying caught him in the chest, but he's basically down on his knees. It's a similar height tackle to the other and neither could've complained for reds.

Another result determined by a bad referring decision, bring on VAR. No jumping up and down by Pochettino this week following a bad decision.

Still a studs up challenge. Red card all day. As was Torreira's.

I'm not disagreeing with that, it's a red, but trying to put some context into the situation. Keepers get tackled like that a lot and are often lucky for the player to be even booked.

Torreiras tackle is a more traditional, cut and dry red card on the face of it. Easily visible that it was Knee high, etc etc.

No argument about the red...can’t even say it’s out of character as he is fond of tackles like that.

Poor result for Spurs, other top teams completely tore Arsenal apart at home.

Jaysus Poch is really feeling the pressure that presser was ridiculous from him talking random excuses. Saying Xhaka incident changed the game lol

Robbie Savage lol. Giving it loads to Walton who is trying to defend the officials today.

On the Spurs penalty, I've seen a rule floating around about the penalty being awarded before an offside officially actually kicks in. Not saying it's correct, just that there are always little exact things that normal fans wouldn't automatically know, me included.

If it's illegal contact the amount doesn't matter, it's a foul.

And LOL at the idea that VAR would see these sorts of decisions overturned. No way are the VAR guys going to be overturning fouls on the basis that the illegal contact in question wasn't forceful enough.

    Yup, just read it there
a player in an offisde (sic) position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence.

I am, at what point he is deemed as going for the ball and being active ? Mustafi is fouling him either way. If he was offside, he should've done nothing. He's a walking liability.

We shall have to disagree on interpretation of this Law, Are we saying that no offside should be signalled until we are satisfied play has broken down and the attacker is not going to be fouled for a penalty kick? That would be nonsense, play could go on and on

A quote I read tonight on this.

Ffs he was offside how are spurs managing to spin this any other way???

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

We all know the offside rules are a bit of a nonsense and have become overly complicated in the last 20 years. But they are what they are. Until he basically touches the ball, the linesman is not going to flag. Years ago, that would have been flagged the moment the free was taken.

He was in an offside position, but it all comes to down to when the player is considered to be active in play and it 's very inconsistent.

He ended up two yards from the goal after been on the edge of the box before the free kick was taken, if that’s not actively trying to be involved in play then I give up ffs.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

It isn't. And it hasn't been in a long time. Otherwise we'd be seeing the flag go up a lot more often and a lot quicker. It would make sense if it was the case.

he hasn't actually been able to make an attempt to play the ball because Mustafi had a complete brainfart and fouled him. Mustafi barged into him before the 6 yard box, as he's jumping.

    It's really Mustafi's own fault.

City conceded a very similar penalty a few weeks ago.
