MSD shut down the old cosmetics plant they had here and put it up for sale, eventually they decided to turn it into a state of the art Pharma plant manufacturing their blockbuster cancer drug Keytruda. This seems to be reaching its final construction steps as you can see the new building taking shape just past Tesco's in Airside if you are heading towards the M1. It is creating 350 new jobs for the area, good, well paid and highly skilled roles too looking at all the job's they are advertising.

Anyone know when this is opening, or has put themselves forward for any of the positions, looks like a great investment for Swords area. They already employ 2000 odd people across other sites in Ireland, with those sites generating close to $5bn in revenues annually.

The Bristol, Myers, Squibb plant also had a nice reprieve there last year when SK Biotek stepped in to take over the plant that had a closure hanging over its head, the workers got a good severence and in most cases a continuing job at the rebranded SKB plant.

Pharma does have a fairly decent presence in Swords, offering some really good jobs in the local community, good to see this sector is growing in the region and not too much damage was done by the 2008/9 triggered recession
