Cheap can of plasti dip, Aldi/Lidl sell them from time to time, for very little cost you'll get to see what black looks like and easy to remove

My stuff for sale on Adverts inc. EDDI, hot water cylinder, roof rails...

Good suggestions! I've a can of black spay bought in Lidl for no particular reason that I'll use first. If the end result looks poor, a wheel place might be an option otherwise it's only €35 each for replacement Geminis.

@podge1979 - "NTHSA can also be liable here, so they will look for certainty saying it the OEMs responsibility is not due diligence."

Yes that's a good point. But you can also reverse that. If NHTSA has been supplied with evidence that a certain autonomous driving system has caused 90% less deaths than an average car, they will have blood on their hands if they don't promptly approve it. Even though the system does not meet their rigorous standards and technical requirements.

Yes but the risk legally/being sued will be to the people that are killed potentially by this technology the accidents it stopped occuring unfortunately won't come into the narrative.

So that won't happen squeaky clean and certainty is what their looking for.

Enyaq 80 is €53K as it also gets the same grant as the small battery Model Y. Long delays in production has really killed their sales. €63K is probably a sportline version. Supercharger network is a huge advantage though with a Model Y.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,279 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

You're right I missed the cheaper version, from a quick look it's missing at least the follow items leather seats, heated seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, fast DC charging, wireless phone charging, heat pump that are standard in the Model Y. Seems a bit overpriced for a Skoda.

Tesla base spec is very high, something folks need to take into account alright

When do we think MY will get V2L enabled? That's turning my head a bit at the moment, especially as we move to a 2-EV household.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,765 ✭✭✭ds20prefecture

Great question. VW are retro-enabling it for ID models apparently in the next major software update, so about 2035. The Hyundai/Kia/MG vehicle to load is pretty sweet, but I'd love to see the manufacturers sign up to some safe DC output standard so the the car can be natively integrated into home DC systems. This would avoid duplication of cost for car manufacturers and the consumer and makes wiring and power distribution simpler. If the consumer doesn't already have solar an off-the-shelf inverter can pull DC from the car to power the home. Home owners with their own energy source can use the DC connection with a hybrid inverter to charge the car battery without costly DC->AC-AC>DC conversion, and storing vastly more than their home battery system can.

The Ford system in the Lightning outputs AC from the Car via the custom EVSE to power the house. The wiring and custom charger currently cost about $7500 in the US and while it works well, it's only because the lightning already has a use-case appropriate 9KW AC output on board.

Tesla seem to be the outlier is not offering any capability in this respect, presumably because of commercial conflict with the Powerwall.

The M3/MY charging unit seems to have the capability for bidirectional electricity flow so I'm hoping it's a future 'unlock' action rather than a new feature development?

It's going to be irrelevant. That's right. I always thought V2L / V2H / V2G would best work through bi-directional AC charging / discharging and I've said it ono this forum for many years. The cars need to have hardware that enables bi-directional charging. And it would have to be a standardised system, the same for all cars. But it simply is too little too late, most cars won't be ready for it for years and then won't have a standardised system. And we have to move on as this stuff is super important in the scheme of stabilising the grid and storing excess renewables

@ds20prefecture - "I'd love to see the manufacturers sign up to some safe DC output standard"

But they already have. It's called CHAdeMO and CCS. It's already in pretty much all EVs for sale in the last 10 years and every single one going forward. These are protocols that have no additional physical requirement in the car for working bi-directional. All it is now is for someone that can commercialise a piece of kit installed in the home that can talk to the cars (high voltage DC) and allow charging and discharging for reasonable money

Definitely overpriced as everything is extra as per usual VAG pricing structure. Much more premium inside than the likes of an ID4 though. Model Y has fantastic standard spec for the money. Kia EV6 also well equipped even on an Earth model.

@unkel "But they already have. It's called CHAdeMO and CCS." I'm fairly sure those are AC out, not DC

Was playing around with the payment options last night and the 4.9% rate is still available with AIB - for HP only.

The 5.9% rate from Finance Ireland is for PCP & HP

So just a change in how the rates are displayed and 4.9% should be available to all if you are going with HP

Decent range test from a normal average Joe driver. No fancy cameras, no tech data, just get in at 100% and drive to 0%.

    336km at speeds of 110km/h.

    Average wh/km of 179.

Band on with my predictions from the SR. Only thing he mentions is it’s 14 degrees there which is our summer 😀

Forgive my ignorance but can you upgrade the RWD to performance if the lotto numbers come up some Saturday?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,961 ✭✭✭rocky

No, RWD only has 1 rear motor, performance and long range have 2

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 39,313 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

No. Performance have different motors, 2 of them and different brakes, suspension etc

You can just cancel and start a new order. Or wait until the cars come from Berlin, then you can pick that incredible Quicksilver colour for your Model Y Performance. My best mate has one of them on the way, I'm not at all jealous 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 737 ✭✭✭Feidhlim

Where do MYs standard come from if ordered now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,503 ✭✭✭✭Mad_maxx

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,989 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

No one knows for sure. Current M3 standard come from China. The MY RWD would usually have come from china too, but the pricing change has led to some thinking it's coming from Berlin.

What's the best email to get my deposit refund.

I emailed contactuk@tesla.com 2 weeks ago. No reply

  • Registered Users Posts: 185 ✭✭TMY

Give it time, I'd say they're swamped with end of year deliveries and will get to it.

I'm iterested to know if you're cancelling due to no USS/Tesla Vision.

  • Registered Users Posts: 645 ✭✭✭Killer K

Why have you decided to pull the plug on the order if you don't mind me asking? Have one on order myself and 50/50 as to whether I will proceed.

I ordered MY Performance Grey. Few reasons I cancelled.

Thought I would get from Berlin

Low ball offer they gave me for my 201 M3 SRplus Blue/white, 25,000 KM. 38 K offered.

New Silver looks great and will probably order that when available.

Parking sensors was final push for me.
