Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The general assumption that we’ll have results this week probably means it’ll be next week, I fear. Just need to grit our teeth and hang in there!

The frustrating thing for me is I think I failed the interview and I just want to know for sure so I can forget about it. The whole process is so drawn out and the end result is you might get on a panel which might lead to a job if there is a vacancy. The only saving grace is that we are lucky to already be in stable employment, would be much worse if we were totally dependent on getting a position.

    Me too re interview :-(

You just never know how these things went, it's very marginal really. I found both tough, boards were very nice but were sticky, sometimes that is a good sign but not always. It was such a long day with a lot of pressure, like us all I did a brilliant interview on the way home, thinking of all I had prepared and did not say. Hopefully we will know this week but not looking likely.
I'm through to final interview for an AO competition so was hoping to hear whether or which before I drag out all the stuff to prep yet again. It might help me focus my concentration.

Anyone willing to ring PAS to see if they are any closer to issuing results? I don't think they will take my calls anymore.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 Gerry0407

They probably won’t say much anyway. I remember ringing before the stage 4 invites came out, I was told they would be out within two weeks. They came out later that day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 63 ✭✭BLOSSOM11

I just rang PAS. They said the plan is to let us know the end of the month but all going well we should know next week. I wonder will we hear tomorrow?!

Every time you go through a competition you forget how much of a rollercoaster it is :(

Yeah the waiting is a killer. It wouldn't be so bad if they gave a definite date for issue of results

I am actually obsessed with checking boards at this stage. Fingers crossed it will be today.

I'm the same. I think I'll suffer from withdrawal symptoms when the results do actually come out and I won't need to check boards every five minutes.

Unfortunately, it's actually a waste of time.

A Colleague contacted them this week and just received the response "In Due Course".

Does anyone know why there is such a delay in issuing the results? I've heard that in a previous competition there was a delay due to some people having to re-sit the presentation but I haven't heard of any such issue this time.

Anyone wiling to phone them again later?

I tired just now but there was no answer. It was probably not the best time to try as they are most likely on lunch.

I rang and was told by very nice girl that it would be 1st week of November and definitely not this week, they do not expect that it will be next week either, but the week after, they are waiting for some departments to get back to them with vacancies so that they can give a placing etc. And they also have regional to sort out, I explained that I was regional. But it makes no difference these results will be published the same time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭Kanovara

Has anyone from batch 2.1 Dublin Region actually been assigned yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 63 ✭✭BLOSSOM11

I just rang PAS and they said that we'll get results the 1st week of November. That they are waiting until panels expire

That's strange considering they have already released results for the earlier regional interviews that took place. PAS seem to using any old excuse now not to issue results, there's something funny going on.............

I was placed from batch 2.1 I start on the 4th November

What was your order of merit please? Where you retained by your own department?

I have also been told that if you are not allocated before November you won't be until January as the cut off for Payroll is early November

It's strange alright. They could have said in the first place they wouldn't issue until November or at the very least be consistent in how they answer queries. Can't really understand why they don't just release results and state that No one will be assigned until after the 1st November.

Worst thing is it's a long wait to find out your unsuccessful if you fall in to that category

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭BMHOPE

They sure don't make it easy. Interviews finished three weeks ago, all we want for the moment is pass or fail.... We can wait until November for order of merit. You would think that this panel should be in place for when the 17 one finishes next week. But obv not, if places open next week I suppose they will try to get a few moved of last panel. Waiting is always hard.

I completely agree. 3 weeks is too long to wait if you are one of the unsuccessful applicants. Now looks like we'll be waiting 5! PAS need to become more consistent with the issuing of results. Even a simple pass/fail result would be something

Hi, I'm is slightly different position but the waiting is just as bad.
Does anyone know if there is s specific thread for "Senior Information and Communications Technology Specialist in the Civil Service (Interdepartmental)" ?
Like all of you, I have the interview done but waiting for an answer one way or the other.

I questioned that when I rang & by what she said it looks like next week. Still you never do know with PAS.

5 weeks seems like a crazy amount of time to wait for results, it would turn anyone off applying for future competitions. Hopefully we hear by Friday

It so is! By all accounts people knew 6 days after interviews finished for the last interdepartmental HEO. There must be something up.

Hi, just wondering did anyone come across an interviewer who wouldn't let you demonstrate a competency using the STAR technique? This happened to me. He just wanted a straight answer. I tried a few times to give the competency but he kept stopping me till I gave a straight answer. I'm worried this will go against me as I didnt get to demonstrate the competency at all

This is exactly what happened me and how I feel now . I really was rattled by him as every time I tried to answer he interrupted me and kept asking direct questions:-(

I wonder was it the same interviewer! I was rattled as well! Was trying to demonstrate the competency but he wouldn't let me. Could see from his face he was getting annoyed & he wasn't hiding it.Could it have been a tactic? But don't you only get marked on what you say or does your form get taken into account?

I had one interviewer who cut across me too, told me she wanted a different example and then wouldnt let me talk, I was trying to structure my answers using STAR too but she was having none of it. Must be a tactic because I definitely felt there was a good cop, bad cop dynamic.

Well I have his name but best not name him. You couldn't have described the situation better. He was getting agitated like "just tell me! " I totally lost confidence from there on. I guess he was there to rattle us and he succeeded in my case.

Sounds like the same guy! Hopefully it didn't go against us. I wonder can we complain if we fail on his competencies? Hopefully we both pass so won't need to consider that. My main worry is the report. I wasted time reading & then when it came to doing the report I went about it the wrong way. When I realised it was too late. I reckon I failed on that but still hope I got through. The waiting makes it all the more worse

Oh it must be so! Makes me feel a bit better. But how can we get marked if we are not allowed used STAR like we are meant to? With my guy I tried a few times to use STAR & then just answered him like he wanted.

I really dont know how they could have marked when they were interrupting constantly. In my interview, I felt the first half was very structured, followed the usual competencies, allowed me to use the recommended answering format etc. but them the last interviewer went totally off-script. It's impossible to figure out how it went or whether you even passed and the waiting makes you question everything they asked and every answer you gave.

Yeah I've written it off now and the longer time goes on the less I care but when i seen your post earlier I though omg that's exactly what happened me. Best of luck anyway and hope you pass ll of it.
