    The waiting is a killer!

I put in one of my best interviews, but past experience has thought me that doesn't count for much until you get the pass!

I agree... there is no way of knowing until the results come out.... it feels like forever!

Presentation invite for next week issued. Short notice but glad to have passed the interview. Dunno how this is going to work preparing the presentation remotely on someone else’s computer! Not looking forward to it! How did everyone else do?

Well done! They said in the booklet managing an operational unit?? Hopefully it’s not overly complex! It’s going to be very strange. Never did anything like this before!

Hi, I am on Wednesday as well. Apparently one of the conditions is that those who have done the presentation are not allowed discuss it or the information that was provided to them. It will definitely be challenging!

I’m Monday! I guess nothing to prepare really for it so a quick turnaround isn’t too big of a deal. It’s just such a long exercise and totally new way of doing it!

Can anyone recommend a good interview coach for HEO interview? I have an interview coming up and failed it the last time so really need some coaching.

Hi, I didn't do a power point as the system was slow for me. I just did the report on word and they share that back to you so I used that and just talked. It goes surprisingly quick. Best of luck.

Mine was rescheduled. I didn’t use PowerPoint as no time and it’s very slow through the share screen option so I just decided against it.

So slow I felt this definately was a draw back.

I’m assuming that this is just case for everyone and no need to bring that to their attention?

Mine was slow too to use , I didn’t use PowerPoint presentation either just a word document but it was delayed a lot in relation to where the cursor was . presume the same for everyone . The panel were lovely but time was tight . It flew though. So glad to have it over .. wrecked tonight after it all .

I wonder will the results issue this week? Yet again, the longer the wait the more doubt that creeps in!

Was thinking the same since last week 🙈 hopefully we will hear this week . The level of doubt if creeping up . Wonder how many interviewed or how many got to presentation level ?

I agree.... the longer we wait the less confident I am about a good outcome. I wish they would just put us out of our misery. Was there a full week of presentations last week or just some days?

I think April next year however regional panels were created later so maybe summer 2021. Do you think the previous panels have expired and that’s why these areas were called? Or could there still be a few people left on them?

As far as I know they are interviewing to need. Some internal panels have run out

Got an email saying I was on a panel for Louth in batch 1 1.

Does anyone think there’ll be many vacancies for even the top 10 of this panel to be called? (I am assuming nearly all vacancies would be in Dundalk)

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 DeeKK20

Well done everyone .passer and got on panel too . Wonder how long we will be waitin for an offer

Does anyone know what the annual leave for HEO is? Is it 29 days starting and 30 days after 5 years? Does previous service in another grade count towards those 5 years? Have they stopped the 31 days after 10 years!

    Thanks for any answers!

Max 30 for all new recruits, other grades would count if you had entitlement to 29 days in that grade too

HEO competitions have been interdepartmental and you'd need to go back a long way since there has been a large open HEO competition. You need two years as a civil servant to be eligible for an internal/interdepartmental competition.

There are no Open HEO competitions, except for specialist roles like HEO ICT. In general service, HEO is a promotional role. You need to be a serving CO or EO, then with two years service, you can apply for any Internal or Interdepartmental HEO competitions that come up.

There are Open HEO competitions, it is not solely a promotional grade, nor is the open competition reserved for specialist grades.

My wife joined the CS from the private sector a number of years ago as a HEO from an Open Comp.

There was an open HEO and an ICT HEO recently.

The promotional HEO competition was a few months back. I assume they do the promotional one first, and the open HEO if they still have positions to fill.

Yes, you're right there, I think the post at the same time as mine said there haven't been any open competitions for a good few years. What I should have said was, there haven't been any in a good few years.

Yes there was an open HEO ICT competition recently, I mentioned that there are open HEO competitions for specialist roles like ICT. When was the open HEO (general service) recently?

Seems it was only an ICT HEO.

But here's an open HEO competition; https://www.publicjobs.ie/en/?option=com_jobsearch&view=jobdetails&cid=127370&campaignld=20267403

Why do you assume it's an Open Competition? The details of this Interdepartmental Competition were circulated in various departments today. Have you followed the Apply Now link? It leads to the application form for the Interdepartmental Competition for Promotion to Higher Executive Officer (HEO) in the Civil Service - Reference Number 20267403

I did not, no. One of the lads forwarded me the link, and although I had no interest in it, I thought I'd post it as you were looking for the HEO competition.

I asked if there was an open HEO competition recently, there hasn't been and the one you posted is interdepartmental.
