Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TMC Traffic Management Channel Dublin

    Does anybody know if they have this TMC Traffic management system operational in their car in and around Dublin?

    Apparently it was launched sometime ago between 2009 - 2011:

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=63624219?

    I've bought two cars recently (2015 and 2014) from different manufacturers, but both have the TMC logo crossed out!

    If I look through their files, the TMC provider file does give tuning information:

    <country name="Ireland" cc="2" ecc="227" fmTuningGrid="World">
    <boundary desc="Republic of Ireland">

    and a service provider name:

    providerName>TrafficNav (IE)</providerName>
    <pay>false</pay>
    <tuning ltn="42" sid="2"/>

    Seemly the contract was awarded to a Hungarian based operator ? TrafficNav, which is supposed to be broadcasting the RDS protocol via RTE Radio 1?

    The weblinks on Dublin City Council site seem to be dead.

    Does anyone have this system working?

    Is there something wrong with the code? i.e. is there an incorrect parameter?

    I wanted to get this working on a car sat nav.
    I rang The Traffic Management & Incident Centre as per Dublin City website.
    The pilot finished and was switched off.
    As technology has advanced with the use of smart phones, they said it will not be turned back on.

    I have a few year old garmin sat nav stand alone. It has an FM receiver built into the charging cable that picks up a data channel on FM radio. After a few minutes powered on it shows live traffic without the need for a sim card nor data plan. I have not used it recently, I typically use my phone wired to android auto on the car which is better. Below is garmin blurb. I think it should still work:

    Garmin Traffic Via FM
    Beside Garmin LIVE Traffic, Garmin offers additionally free lifetime Traffic avoidance on “LMT” ( and LMT-D as back-up) devices via RDS-TMC. It works over the traditional analogue FM radio to inform you of delays and alternative routes . RDS (Radio data system) bandwidth is limited, so the amount of data you can receive via this method would be less than with Garmin Digital Traffic or Garmin Live Traffic via SmartphoneLink

    TMC is gone and looks like it's not coming back.

    I've taken to using Waze and to be honest in any area there is more than a view user's the traffic updates and info is brilliant!

    My car has a big touch screen system that is now left in Dark Mode whilst android auto and Waze handle my traffic updates and navigation.

    I think the Garmin Traffic via FM is encrypted (according to thread 2056622051).
    I saw some reference to it being on 88.5Mhz - my in car satnav didn't detect it as a tmc channel, or any tmc channel when it went searching.
