    Hi Folks,

    Would appreciate some opinions here.

I'm looking to buy a bike at the moment to cover the following:

    - 15km round trip commute to work
    - Mostly cycle paths/reasonable tarmac
    - will need a pannier to carry a laptop and work clothes

    - Occasionally out road cycling for events such as
    - sprint/Olympic distance triathlon (more to complete rather than seriously compete)
    - club cycles up to 100km or sportifs

    Indicative budget up to 1k

From what I can see so far, Cyclecross appears to be the way to go.

Would it be realistic to get one of these with bigger tyres, mudguards, panniers etc for the commute and then remove then for any extra curricular activities?

If so can anyone recommend a brand of bike or tips for doing this.

    Many thanks in advance
