The reason i started this thread is because i meet this level of racism weekly in Limerick. Also alot of casual racism. And yes some of it is down to stupidity but some of it is also down to the way people here were brought up. Im a white male with black relatives. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who speak with racist tones about Africans, Pakistani, Inidan and just about any person who is not white to me not knowing that i have black relatives. I get it at work, in sport, in town the list goes on.. So just so you people dismissing this know its not just some dope up in Parnell st. And the more you people normalise this behaviour the longer it will go on.

i think you'd get more empathy if you didn't call yourself Stab City..thats in itself is an offensive term towards Limerick

I presume the perp is some low IQ bottom feeder.

The irony of a genetic mess like that thinking that he's better than anyone.

I wanted to raise awareness of a certain video doing the rounds online. What do any of these threads hope to achieve?

Tabloid headline? Don't think so. If it said Rugby Limerick and the thread was about Munster would that be ok? The thread is about Racism in Limerick thats why its called Racist limerick. Of course the whole city isn't racist and the fact that your trying to make the title something its not is a stretch. Anyway ill change the thread title.

No its normalising something to say things like:

    "Just Limerick things I suppose"
"Some clown trying to amuse his pals"
"Relatively harmless arsehole makes nuisance of self in Limerick Cit-AAAH. NATO informed. Film at 11"
"I'm laughing at you, starting a thread about some gowl in Limerick roaring at foreigners."

Am i asking you to take personally to take responsibility for anything? No. So its all about the headline is it? Is that why you joined up you are the one who burst through the doors ive been here a while. Ill change it and away you go again...

MODS CAN WE CHANGE THE TITLE TO SOMETHING LIKE RACISM IN LIMERICK ALTHOUGH I CANT BELIEVE THE THREAD TITLE CAUSES MORE OUTRAGE THAN THE VIDEO ITSELF.

could you change the username as well please.i dont think you shouldnt be allowed on boards with a name like that.especially not talking about limerick anyway.i wont read or take heed of anyhting you say with a username like that.im sure im not alone.

Get over yourself - his username has nothing to do with the point he’s making.

Not at all, it’s perfectly ok to wish harm upon imbeciles like that. Personally, I’d feed the likes of him into a wood chipper for upkeep of the green areas in the city - would probably be the most he’s ever contributed to society in any event.

It has plenty to do with it, Stab City is a derogatory slur on our city, people should be actively trying to discourage and eliminate that name not use it as a moniker to post in the Limerick forum. This is the Treaty city, nothing else.

People use all sorts of monikers online, a username doesn’t invalidate your opinion.

    It can debase it though.

Yeah but he joined 12 years ago and I don’t think you can change names without paying? It’s nothing that can negate the point he is making though, offensive(to some) name or not doesn’t dilute it.

Everybody shouldn't be so defensive , no one called you racist!! It's not personnel it's opinion, don't attack the person ..attack the problem , irish people fear anything different , no body is just born racist they see and hear it , racism is too normalized in Ireland and this thread smacks of it .

Are you trying to say the video isn't real? What are you getting at. Yes we know that proof of the video was not supplied. This was due to the nature of the language in the video. It was purposely left out as to not cause offence.

Who said the video isn't real? I just asked for proof so I could assess it myself. Lots of people get offended easily these days. If you don't want to be offended then don't watch the video. You've already been warned what's on it.

That other poster posted what he considered proof, but which wasn't proof itself.

You said he was making it up if he didn't post the video. Plenty of us had seen it and knew he wasn't making anything up.

So you want me to be outraged about racism based on your opinion of something? Is that how it works?

This waster should be out earning his dole money scrapping chewing gum off the streets or something, im not happy the tax i pay is going towards this fools camera phone so he can make such stupid videos, giving the whole country a bad name, if i moved to a foreign country with my family and a person in that country started shouting racist insults at me or my family i would kick the $hit out of them, hopefully this loser gets his comeuppance.

The man making the video is describing a black woman walking towards him on the pavement. He says “ here’s a baboon walking along, scratching her armpits”. You don’t agree that that’s offensive?

What happened in limerick is that over a period of about 50 years certain families more or less terrorized whole communities. If you were from one of these families everyone knew who you were and people would get out of your way. You “enjoyed” a reputation as someone not to be messed with and you could do or say whatever you want.
Of course this sent them on one big long power trip, an addiction in itself.
In more recent years migrants arrived from overseas who don’t know who you are. Don’t care who you are. Aren’t impressed by you or afraid of you, often because you would be squashed like a fly in the rough environment they grew up in.
So the power tripping is very diluted now. No one is afraid of you now. How very very annoying. All you can do now is walk angrily down the streets you used to rule with your iPhone out making racist remarks that mark you out as a moron. Pathetic.

Yeah, it's highly offensive. I wanted to see the video for myself, not rely on someone's hearsay.

Another poster PMd me to point out some of your own racist posts about immigrants last year.
I didn't go back and check them myself. I'll just take it going forward from now that you're a racist yourself.

Ah yes. No you needn’t go and look at them. I’m happy to confirm that I’m well known for my racism.
