Hmmmm - Thread title promises so much and yet delivers no consensus at the end of the day.

Which vehicle is the best of these 3 folks?

    - Whats the best 7 seater on the market as of March 2019?

At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference really. For me im going with the Kodiaq as it gives me what I want for what is the best price, others didn’t imho. The Tarracco base model for example in 2 litre diesel automatic price wise is up at the style spec for the Kodiaq and for that the Tarracco doesn’t even give you leather seats.

Of course there are other 7 seaters available, personally i prefer the look of a 7 seater SUV type for example.

The resale value also appealed to me when it came to comparing the skoda, seat and peugeot. I personally didnt like the 5008 as much to drive and i have a buddy whos company were using a fleet of peugeots and had to change as he got nothing but issues.

    Kodiaq for me so.

I am not sure where you got your prices, but I have looked at these recently. The lower spec Tarraco in diesel manual (which is not available to order yet...well, first build dates not for a while anyway) is about €3,000 cheaper than the Kodiaq Style. Yes, you don’t get leather, but you do get stuff like a rear view camera, digital cockpit and a few other things not on the Kodiaq.

I chose a Tarraco despite having had a Kodiaq previously for a few months. I got a good deal on it and much preferred the interior....to be honest, I never thought something would swing me away from the Kodiaq as it is an excellent vehicle.

I would encourage people to try all the vehicles and test drive them and decide which one they like best....then look at ACTUAL prices to buy rather than list prices.

And as I said the automatic is what price?? Closer to a style spec on a Kodiaq which is automatic also.

If I was looking for a quote for a manual obviously I would have quoted for a manual.

Actual price quoted to me by email for a 2 litre diesel se spec Automatic (not manual) was €43,240 without metallic paint. Actual price!

Well, I got a price of €39,500 for an SE Manual inclusive of metallic paint and delivery (manual about €5,500 cheaper than auto Kodiaq)). The pricing was not available for an automatic but was advised it would be an extra €2,800. The Style automatic list is just under €45k. (Automatic about €2,600 cheaper than auto Kodiaq).

To add to my previous post, you should also get a bigger discount off list price on the Seat. You cannot go wrong with either of the vehicles in my opinion, but I am just advising to do the numbers on the actual prices to change. They were much different in the garage than by telephone/email.

So just to give an update.

Decided right I’m going to take the day off and get final figures down for both the Tarraco and the Kodiaq had been given indicative figures for trade in etc.

Was edging towards the Kodiaq so was going in there first when the Seat salesman rings with a few figures, offering me €10,300 for my own on trade in which is a fair enough offer to be honest but obviously would like a bit more if I can, he says €10,300 but may be able to do a little better if I bring it in and he gets a good look at it.

Have been up front with both that I’m looking at the other cars etc so sit with mr Kodiaq (not his real name btw) when he announces yes that everything is good with my car but only worth €8,000. This results in me actually spluttering out a loud laugh and a cough at the same time which takes mr Kodiaq by surprise.

I said listen I’m going to stop ye there but I’m in sales and negotiation myself and I don’t start by insulting the person I’m dealing with, hence a mumbled apology and a load of sales spiel etc with a promise to come back within an hour or so with hopefully a better offer.

On to mr Tarracco who has a good look and says he can go to €10,500 if I’m insterested etc.

Still waiting on mr Kodiaq to return the call btw!

Honestly I know what my car is worth why do dealers insist on trying taking you for a complete and utter idiot!

Looking at earlier posts did you not already get his best price by email? Did he know you had a trade in?

If not and you didn't get Mr terraco's best prior your visit there's your €2k difference in trade in value right there.

Earlier you reckoned the skoda was better value.
Now that skoda gave poor trade in which is best?

Ignore the value put on your car and compare only the cost to change.

It's very easy to give a nice high trade in price if you've a load of fat in your list price.

I had been given a trade in price on the Tarracco but not the kodiaq, Seat dealer was happy to take me at my word in regards to my own car and give me an indicative price (of course if my own was wrecked it wasn’t going to stand)

Skoda dealer wouldn’t give me any idea until I got the chance to bring it in, didn’t expect there to be that much difference to be honest. It’s the wife’s car so only had the chance today to get it sorted.

The se trim on the Tarracco gives a lot more bang for your buck than the ambition model on the Kodiaq but was dearer coming in closer to a style trim on kodiaq which is what was pushing me towards the kodiaq ambition model.

But mr kodiaq rang me back and said this eve that best he can do is he will need €31k for an ambition model with trade in. Mr Tarracco now has quoted me €29500 for the se model trade in.

So cost to change is lower on the Tarraco now even though it was a little bit more than what I was initially looking to spend, basically the crap trade in offer had eroded what was initially pushing me towards the kodiac ambition which was a lower price.

Mr kodiaq is to come back to me again in the morning with a final breakdown of cost etc so will be interesting to see what he comes back with.
