    Hi all,

I recently purchased a 151 Audi A3 and I noticed recently that the fan stays on for roughly 10 minutes after switching off the car.

It has happened to me a number of times over the last month.

Is this normal and does it happen to anyone else’s A3

    Thanks,

10 mins seems like a long time, The fan on my B7 A4 runs for about 90 seconds after I stop the car.

Diesel?, if so it's because you are stopping the car during its dpf regeneration, you probably need to do a good motorway run

Its normal but depends on driving pattern.

    Its DPF regeneration mode

(assuming it's a diesel) as others have said it's probably because you have stopped the engine during or just after an active DPF regeneration. There might be a burning/hot smell too and the tickover RPM might get a bit higher?

If it's happening a lot just after you've bought it I'd be tempted to drive 10k or so with RPM up over 3k to try and burn off some of the soot in the DPF. Failed regens can contaminate the oil too.

    If it's a petrol - dunno - thermostat maybe?!
