Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Over 400k signatures in an hour and a half for the Revoke Article 50 petition. Now over 1.9 million.

May just seems totally incapable and lacking in any political skill.

Problem is.. there could be worse than her.

A variation on that plan which I saw on twitter was to declare war on Ireland then instantly surrender, therfore become part of the United Republicdom of Ireland and so brexit ceases to be a problem and remain in the EU. :)

Never underestimate the British she will defeat the EU just like Margaret Thatcher did when she went and won the rebate.

Dear Christ. Next you’ll telling us brexit means brexit! You’re about two years behind reality here.
    May is a busted flush.

Parliament can't take control. The government is in control of making laws. Parliament approves or rejects them.

It was voted on a week or 2 ago, only lost by 2 votes.

Anything can happen at this stage.

She tried saying its Plan A only and they saw right through her and now there a number of alternatives.

    She is toast now.

So No Deal next Friday is looking pretty unlikely then, whatever about anything else. 12th of April to be the new D day?

It's quite extraordinary how the political system has disintegrated so quickly. It's funny that every time I see Dominic Raab's grinning face, I'm reminded of Rik Mayall in the original House of Cards. And how that title fits so well now. I really must watch that again.

Rik Mayall was The New Statesman (Alan B'stard).
House of Cards was Ian Richardson. FU.

Telegraph headline for tomorrow up on BBC feed, looks like May's a goner. 1922 committee calling for a chat.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/03/21/exclusive-theresa-may-told-chairman-1922-committee-tory-mps/

Actually looks like the warning was given to her Monday, no wonder she's lashing out all week.

That wasn't a binding vote. Governments can ignore those types of votes even if they pass.

Only the government can't amend and change laws.

So the parliament taking back control thing is a nonsense.

2 week extension it is so. That'll be great use, her mv3 is absolutely definitely going to fail. The 2 weeks should be long enough for May to get turfed out of office and the new pm to come crawling back looking for a longer extension. Unless those lunatics over there decide to vote confidence in her again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,808 ✭✭✭✭Water John

There is a pic on twitter of almost 20 people around a laptop writing up the document for the leaders, incls Weyand and the Irish Ambassador, no UK rep in the room.

Am I correct in saying there is no vote of confidence in May until next November? By the Tories alone that is.

    ....yeah. That's what happened.

How many times has May said, "We are leaving on 29th March. Whether with a deal or no deal."

The UK got themselves into such a state that even if they left without a deal, the legislation wouldn't even be in place because all HOC time has been taken up with trying to get May's terrible deal passed.

Don't get it wrong, the EU did them a big favour here.

Sounds to me that if A50 fails again it is withdraw A50 or leave with no transitional arrangement/no deal.

The dates seem to indicate this.

The state of this. They spoke to her, convened then to make a decision. British exceptionalism struggling that smaller countries are in the room and they are not.

It's not a two week extension to carry on kicking the can in, a decision has to still be made on the WA before next Friday. The UK just then has a couple of extra weeks to sort their house out before jumping off the cliff. Nothing has really changed other than the EU giving the Commons and the Lords a few extra days to sign some bits of paper off after they make their decision.

Sensible and intelligent 16 year old girl on Question Time in Belfast articulated very well the issues that got us to this point.

Then this was followed by a man who said he wanted to leave with no deal, to cheers from other audience members. In Belfast??

At least the clapping for the young girl was louder. BBC mustn’t have been able to find enough plants this week.
