Can't even turn up to her own press conference on time.

Apparently it's because she overran not listening to the opposition at their meeting. The only Corbyn walked out if.

What a humiliation for the UK.
She just arrived back to No 10 about 5 or so mins ago... from HoC or from Buckingham Palace is the question!

From speculation on twitter it seems that the ERG may have issued an ultimatum.

It also seems that the media are briefed and being embargoed since they're all avoiding speculation and showing VT footage rather than discussing what might be coming up.

They said a short while ago they won't be voting for a deal regardless now, they'll be happy to crash out without the deal and not an extension.

Brexiteers in Mays cabinet ruled out long extension so its not going to happen.
Nor will revoking A50 without second ref - also not going to happen.

So its vote for WA or else crash out happens. UKs bluff has been called by Tusk.

Bercow has been quite clear that there are means open for an emergency motion to be put to the house that could see such a question raised and it would then be for the house to make a decision. The PM, nor the cabinet can rule something like that out completely if there is a majority in favour in the house.

Wont be so sure on revoking A50. She might try getting the WA through one more time and utterly failing before having to revoke or crash out. Crashing out is not an option is total failure and they'll never live it down.

Lest we forget the motion to rescind A50 isnt Mays choice someone else could bring it too.

Its a fact that only Labour and Corbyn can save the deal now and prevent crash out. Whether he will is another matter.

Don't get me excited! Her track record is that it's much more mundane.

Chuka pulled out of the leadership contest himself because his girlfriend at the time was getting a lot of attention. Hardly great leadership material if that kind of thing makes you quit possibly being the PM

Well, as long as he has his priorities right.

He has to be doing it on purpose now? How could a serious person balls this up so badly?

When he refused to meet May that one time, it gave her ammunition to use against him for months. Now he's done it again, but instead of just not meeting May, he's walked out on all of the political opposition as well as May

I think people may have mised a point here, Tusk ruled out a short extension if the deal is not passed by the HoC. He pointedly said nothing about a long extension in such a circumstance. It is open to May to request a long extension if she can't get the deal passed, the purpose of this long extension would be crucial and would probably require a GE or referendum to be promised by the British government for it to be agreed by the EU, which is why May is currently ruleing a long extension out.

But he pointedly did not rule in a long delay.
Ian Dunt seems to think it helps May's deal..

MPs will have to vote with no certainty on what the consequence of rejection is, and a pretty strong indication from EU that it could be no-deal.

So far, so predictable. The public are tired of the politics of brexit...

Complete wafflebollox, will she say anything of note?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,802 ✭✭✭✭bilston

She is doing a good job of blaming everyone except herself. If anything this will get MPs backs up.

    Decent from Fraser Nelson:

Guardian's Lisa O'Carroll says that she ruled out a GE with the ERG.

Short stop and long stop are both cricket terms. They refer to a fielding position behind the batsman, long stop is on or near the boundary.

I think I've seen this episode before.

Does she think she can shame MPs into backing her?

She did that very much on purpose to try and annoy a few thorns in her side.

More history lessons, it's not as if we've forgotten the lead up to now.

Just as we expected, the usual nonsense about taking back control and all that stuff. She's ridiculous blaming MPs though when she's the one that put herself into the position she is.

New mantra, "we're leaving on the 30th of June".

So she says they don't want to participate in another EU election, but the date she asked for means she has to.
