That was Brian Cowen crossed with Comical Ali.

What a load of pointless waffle.

Theresa May is basically just sticking two fingers up at anyone who isn't a Brexiteer.

    Just get out now

Edit - she has the temerity to talk about bringing the country together.

Short stop and long stop are both cricket terms. Both refer to a fielding position behind the batsman, long stop is on or near the boundary.

Shortstop in baseball is an outfield position between 2nd and 3rd base.

She said nothing. What was the point of that? To pressure MP's to vote for her deal?

Speech was like brexit built up to be everything at the same time and turns out to just be more can kicking

Complains about divisiveness, but accuses MPs of undermining the will of the people. Utterly shameless.

Did she change her speech last minute?

    That was dire

    Bla bla bla

As everyone has been saying all along, she adds nothing new! No give, no compromise, just the same thing over and over and over and over and over..
The only reason no one can agree a deal is because she won't budge.

It's quite amazing how she just keeps ploughing on, and has absolutely no interest in input from other sides of the house. Incredibly arrogant and stubborn in my view.

Jesus Christ, who advises this woman? I honestly thought she could only get better once she got rid of Timothy and Hill but no.

I cannot get over the pointlessness of that.

    Ruled out
    1. A 2nd referendum
    2. An extension beyond June 30
    3. Any compromise with anyone anywhere at any time

    Ruled in
    Another vote on her deal
    Potential no deal crash out

Exactly. No compromise and no change of approach whatsoever.

I think it will all end up out of her hands anyways.

She's boxing herself in once again, it's her deal vs no deal.

Absolutely staggering that it's the same old tactics, risking the welfare of the people of the country in order to try and play political games. It's laughable really.

Is it not in the power of the EU to extend it until June and not May?

    What about Euro elections?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭Imreoir2

Well, she ruled out a long extension and holding Europarl elections, this very much puts it back to her deal or no deal. Given the EU assertion that there will be no short extension unless the UK backs the deal, then one can take from her speach that she is ready to leave with no-deal on the 29th of March if the commons does not back her deal.

She said that a second referendum is not what the people want and it's not what she wants. Well we know a second referendum is what people want but it's not about the people with TM, it's about what she wants first and damn the rest of the plebs.

Had she obtained agreement from EU for 30 June?

    Unilateral dictat otherwise.

Could that not have been said in the House of Commons where she had been only a few minutes ago ? Or was she using the backdrop of Downing Street to try to force and shame those who didn’t vote for her deal before June 30th ? She looked pissed off and fed up.
