Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Robert Llewellyn as Crighton in Red Dwarf. He was absolutely perfect in the role.

Billy Bob Thornton as Lorne Malvo, a hitman with a violent and deceptive nature, who crashes his car in Bemidji, Minnesota, while passing through.

Probably not a good example, as he was played by someone else originally and then recast :)

Jesse Plemmons as Todd in Breaking Bad. Rarely gets mentioned really but he is brilliant in his depiction of this creepy, eager to please sociopath kid.
He is like the anti-Jesse Pinkman

Bit of a caveat: Haven't seen it as it's not out yet but the casting for Good Omens is just unbelievably spot on:

    Michael Sheen as Aziraphale
    David Tenant as Crowley

That alone should have been enough but then:
    Jack Whitehall as Pulsifer
    John Hamm as Angel Gabriel
Nick Offerman as The American ambassador at the start of the book for God's sake (No pun intended)
    Speaking of God: Frances McDormand
    Miranda Richardson as Madame Tracey
Paul Kaye is in there somewhere too.

As long as the kids can act this is just the most amazingly spot on casting I've seen outside of Harry Potter cast.

All they are missing i Jermaine Clement...

Martin Sheen - The West Wing
    Anson Mount in Discovery
    Carrie Preston in Good Wife
    John Thaw Morse
    Kyra Sedgwick The Closer
    Johnny Lee Miller Elementary
    RDA Stargate SG-1

When they were casting Start Trek Next Generation a fan boy showed up in uniform and instead of sitting down stood to attention , "because that's what a Klingon would do"

    Michael Dorn as Worf.

    Some iconic ITV shows:
    - Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes
    - David Suchet as Poirot (+1 mention)
    - Leo McKern as Rumpole of the Bailey
    - George Cole as Arthur Daley in Minder
    - Leonard Rossiter in Rising Damp
    - Patrick McGoohan in The Prisoner
    - Sean Bean in Sharpe (ironically 2nd choice for the role!)
    - Sam Neill as Reilly Ace of Spies

kind Hearts and Coronets. If that doesn't ring a bell stop whatever you are doing now ... you need to see it, a wonderfully black comedy.

Dennis Price as Louis "revenge is a dish which people of taste prefer to eat cold."

Joan Greenwood as Sibella, oh the accent. Carry on Screaming is worth watching for Fenella Fielding, but this is better.

And Alec Guinness played eight parts. Including six in one scene, and there was no CGI in dem days.

Try watching Cliffhanger and pretend Lithgow is just playing evil Dick, it's much more fun :pac:

To contribute, I've recently watched the whole of the Golden Girls for the first time and the entire main cast is absolutely marvellous.

Estelle Getty who played Sophia. That's was brilliant casting!

Arrested Development has to be the most perfect execution of casting.

Looks like each actor was playing a character very well known to themselves.

If I’m being critical I always thought they could have done better with the Stan Sitwell (ed begley jr) and Rebel Alley (Isla Fisher) characters.

Can’t see any other actor playing any of the other roles.

Would challenge you to name one actor that wasn’t perfect in their role on that show.

Best piece of casting that I've ever seen.
He was the perfect J Jonah Jameson in Spiderman as well.

I thought Michael Shannon as Nelson Van Alden in Boardwalk Empire was fantastic. I always loved when Nelson lost it!

    Idris Elba as Stringer Bell

Edward James Olmos as Admiral Adama

That is a good shout. I just couldn't imagine an actor who could pull it off better.

I think Joss Whedon shows tend to be very well cast despite that he does tend to reuse actors. Eliza Dushku and Summer Glau both being less than stellar actresses but both suited the roles very well.

OK, if we're doing movies as well....

    - Alan Rickman as Hans in Die Hard. Bruce Willis nailed it as well though

    - Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street

    - Someone already mentioned Ray Liotta in Goodfellas, but Joe Pesci as Tommy (and again as Nicky in Casino)

    - Michael Clarke Duncan in The Green Mile

    - Robert Redford and James Gandolfini in The Last Castle

Maybe a thread on nailed film casting in the film forum would be better ;) keep this just for tv shows, just my suggestion

Anyways can I add Stephen Graham in anything

Philip Glenister, as D.C.I. Gene Hunt, in Life On Mars and Ashes to Ashes.

I tried to look for a suitable youtube clip, but I couldn't find one that was 100% guaranteed inoffensive. That was the whole point of the character and Glenister played the part perfectly.
