why you and your friends feel the need to glorify this sicko is just a sad reflection on you.

These words are the words of a tool.

Where did anybody on here glorify this scumbag? Where did Wibbs do it? Such a daft statement. That calling card of "your friends/mates/pals" rears its head again predictably. What is the obsession with people trying to group anyone they disagree wth into a homogeneous group!?

sorry but i don't share your apocalyptic view.
Where is it "apocalyptic". I'm not sure you know what that means.
according to his Gran, he had no interest in girls, probably cos he couldn't succeed in getting it up. LOL. that or like many other right-wing fruits he's a repressed homosexual.
OooooKay... So you've now worked in Gay guys into your frankly idiotic responses and in a not so roundabout way insulted them too? yeah, impotent homosexuals in closets are more likely to be mass murderers. #slowhandclap. Though it does reinforce my general observation that when "LOL" is peppered in a statement as a punctuation mark, what precedes it is almost guaranteed to be headache blindingly stupid and ill considered.
why you and your friends feel the need to glorify this sicko is just a sad reflection on you.
Can. You. Read? How in christ's name did you interpret anything anyone has said as glorification of this mass murderer? Now I have neither the time nor crayons to try to explain this to you, but suffice to say your imagination is running away with you. For god knows what reason.
i accept he has done a lot of hard to innocent people, but his message of hatred will not succeed despite what you may think.
Talk about naive. Never mind extremely short of memory. Every. Single. Time. something like this happens you have a few memes that too many people follow. Thoughts and prayers being one. Flag shift on their Facebook/Twitter avatar, images of people hugging and "this hatred will never succeed". Yep. Until the next newsflash kicks off spotlighting their naivete. And the meme continues.

i will leave you with this extract, in praise of our Muslim brothers!
Globally, Muslims have the highest fertility rate, an average of 2.9 children per woman—well above replacement level (2.1) and also a younger age profile (median age of 24) compared to other religious groups.[4] Hindu fertility (2.4) is similar to the global average (2.5).[5] Worldwide, Jewish fertility (2.3 children[6] per woman) also is above replacement level.[7] Most of the religious groups have fertility levels too low to sustain their populations and would require converts to grow or maintain their size: indigenous and tribal religions (1.8 children per woman), other religions (1.7), the unaffiliated (1.7) and Buddhists (1.6).[8]

"This significant projected growth is largely due to the young age and high fertility rate of Muslims".[9][10]

If anything positive could come out of this massacre, perhaps it could be that people are now more aware of the consequences of allowing a dehumanisation of Muslims to grow in western societies?
Today, online at any rate, Muslims are the most easily and frequently dehumanised group. In every targeted repression of a people, dehumanisation has always been the essential first step. To bring it home to you: "Irish" "Apes". Then, their lives are not as valuable as "full" humans and all sorts of mistreatment can be tolerated and even accepted as legitimate against them.

I really wish many people online could see the very serious consequences, maybe not today or this year or even in the next few years, of an entire people being demeaned and dehumanised over a long period of time. The conditions which facilitated the holocaust against Jews can very conceivably be reproduced to implement against another people. And, as far as I see it, Muslims are at the top of that target list in 2019. Having read widely on the holocaust in the past couple of years, and also visited Auschwitz, I sincerely think people make a mistake if they surmise that humanity could not have another holocaust. Wherever the lives of an identifiable group of people are dehumanised, the grounds for a potential holocaust are being laid.

Today, online at any rate, Muslims are the most easily and frequently dehumanised group.

I think there'd be grounds to say that people of certain political persuasions are more easily dehumanized, but I'll ignore that and look only at religion.

The Christian Evangelicals would most likely disagree with you there. I wouldn't be surprised if I stumble over a Jesus parody in the next 10 minutes. Doesn't really matter to you or I, but I'm sure to those 'of faith' the constant jabs online and in media are felt to some extent.

    not-sure-if-stupid-or-just-christian.png

How easy was that? It's grand, nobody's going to bat an eye. I think that's the only religion that one can do that with.

The non-Abrahamic religions are going to be somewhat removed from online 'dehumanization' for multi-faceted reasons which are predominantly pretty self-evident.

Now, you might say that Christians are less likely to be persecuted than Muslims. That would really depend on where you are talking about. Clearly in the West, you would be correct, whilst clearly it is the case that countries where Christians are a minority (like Pakistan or Egypt) the reverse is true. Online dehumanization being a root cause of persecution in either case is tenuous.

Is is nearly 20 years since 9/11 and this is the first major terrorist attack targeting Muslim people in a Western country. The internet has been around for all that time, and there's no grounds to suggest that the landscape has changed in any way. If anything, there is likely to be less dehumanization than in the immediate wake of 9/11, the war on the Taliban, the Iraq war, the hunt for bin laden, and the long series of terrorist attacks on Western countries. I think hand-wringing in terms of the nefarious influence of the internet can probably take a back seat.

Edit: most of those anti-Irish images that you linked to seem to originate from the US in the late 19th century. Just saying that it doesn't do much to underpin your argument.

A twitter handle for ISIS apparently declared that 'Revenge is coming' (since deleted), but I think that organization is too busy holding onto its last village in Syria to organize any sophisticated attack these days.

ISIS don't work like that. Especially now. It is very possible that this will lead to retaliation attacks, but they will more likely be "inspired" by ISIS as opposed to being directly linked. The ISIS media wing will be reluctant to claim any such attacks unless the perpetrator dies.

Probably not capable of a big attack at a few days notice but I hope it's what you think and the intelligence agencies are all over them. A lot of attacks have been foiled, well that's what we are being told anyway.

There may be some random chap with mental problems filled with hate looking to commit murders and he'll likely cite ISIS. In fact I would say ISIS nearly claimed the New Zeland attacks before the full details came out.
In short we need be worried about random people who use ISIS as an excuse rather than any network. This Australian lad gave a Nazi salute in court but theres no fear of that network for some reason. A racist white lad murders people and we should be concerned about the demographic the victims belong to?

I think at this point in time its obvious its time for every country to ban the purchase of semi automatic weapons , machine guns by civilians .

There are approximately 200,000 guns in Ireland. We have never had a mass shooting with a legally held firearm. We actually have one of the lowest instances in the world of people being killed with licenced firearms. Are you suggesting banning law abiding citizens from owning firearms?

Sports shooters use semi-automatic firearms. Olympic shooters use semi-automatic firearms. Are you suggesting banning these?

Here in Ireland you can't get a gun because you want one. You have to have a reason for having it and satisfy the Gardaí that you are of sound mind and of good character. You actually have to give the Gardaí permission that nobody else in the state has, that's access to your medical history.

Should someone who does all that be denied access to firearms?

There should be strict laws on gun control ,anyone who commits a serious crime should not be allowed to buy a gun or rifle of any kind.
That's law is already in place here in Ireland.
All weapons have to registered and there have to rules re storage of weapons, and the purchase of bullets and ammunition
That law is also in place here in Ireland.
I can not think of a reason why ordinary people need to purchase machine guns.
You can't have a machine gun in Ireland. With the permission of the Gardai, you can have a semi-auto firearm which isn't quite the same thing.
Australia had one mass shooting and brought in strict gun comtrol laws
and has had no serious incidents since.
Does 7 people count as a mass shooting? That happened in Australia recently.

By the way, Australia bought back those guns from law abiding citizens. Good luck trying to buy back those guns in America and other countries. Not a snowballs chance in hell that even 10% of them would be handed up.
There many religions in the world, millions of muslims live in the uk and america, and europe, 99.9 per cent of them do not commit any crime and simply live in peace.
I am guessing that you are saying don't tar all religious nutters with the one brush because 99.9% of religious people don't commit any crime and simply live in peace.

99.9% of all gun owners are the same, law abiding and peaceful, yet you are happy to tar all gun owners with the one brush and remove their guns. Guns that they use for lawful purposes.

I have great sympathy for those killed in the NZ atrocity but knee-jerk laws tend to be poor laws and penalising the 99.9% of lawful gun owners for the action of one nutter is wrong in my opinion.

There is a fair bit of biting satire in the manifesto, he also makes it a commentary on society's responses to these events. The video games thing or the Navy Seals memes are jabs in the eye at what is commonly said in the world, not serious commentary.

Interesting thing, I was talking to one guy who has a popular twitter profile and he is critical of Islam.
He said he is NEVER threatened by Islamists - always by far leftists.
And it's always pretty severe, they go after his employer to demand he is sacked and when that doesn't work - violence.
