They might, they might not. Sometimes it won't even matter. Look at Battleborn. It was just announced today that they are shutting it down in 2021. The single player part of the game requires online so that will no longer work either.
And chances are high you'll find a hack to fix that to continue playing it; with Stadia you will have no such oppertunity.
I'm not sure what this is trying to prove.
You were claiming there would be no mobile games on Stadia as it was not required due to low hardware requirements; my counter is there's already one mobile game in the release set of games on Stadia.

From my understanding, people would have to host servers for it so I think it's unlikely. I could be wrong though.

That game started out on consoles before there was a mobile version. The original argument was that Stadia would lead to the dumbing down of games. Well, if Thumper is proof that Stadia will lead to the dumbing down of games then it has already happened and Stadia isn't responsible for it.

I don't think the model they have is sustainable for a hardcore gamer market, but it is just the start. PS+ was garbage at the start too. It was a crapy vita/ps3 game no one wanted on more than one occasion.

Once Stadia goes free, then it makes more sense for the bigger casual audience. Rather than fork out 400 on a new ps5 and then buy a €70 game, you just buy a game on stadia.

I was clearing out my office, i must have pulled at least15 thousand euros worth of games, dvds, and bluerays off the shelf. Well i say worth i mean cost, they are pretty worthless now.

I wasn't thinking oh great i can play these any time i want. I was thinking, Christ ill never play these again, a huge chunk had the wrapper on so i never played them at all.

I've tons of digital games that if i lost tomorrow i wouldn't even notice.

I'm fine with cloud gaming, but they do need a pro library of games. Especially with ps now, gamepass, EA Access and uplay+ already available.

They announced on Twitter earlier that they are adding 2 games to pro in December.
And those games are Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Farming Simulator 19!
Better than nothing I guess, but the only game that I bought (TR:DE) is going free in 5 days!!
    Typical :D

Thinking of taking the plunge on this. Play it for a year until the next Gen Xbox comes along.

Anybody try to Football manager game yet ? Haven't played the game in a good few years but it's fairly tempting to get stadia just for it ?

9.99 a month plus price of game to play on Chromebook is definitely cheaper than 900+ to get a PC that will run it

Football Manager will run on a potato.

Thankfully it was only a tenner for TR, but considering it only came out a few days ago it is a kick in the nuts.

They really should have told people before hand. I can imagine a fair few angry players you just bought either or both games.

It's good will they should be trying to generate.

It's one cluster F. after another.

I got on to customer service chat again today and got the chat version of being hung up on because i asked them to tell me "exactly how is my query being dealt with" when he said that they have already escalated it to the Specialist team... I copied the transcript of the chat session, got back onto them and asked to be contacted by a supervisor... will only contact me by email, within 24 hrs.. I like Google, but jaysus they have shocking support and have no clue whats going on.. Cant contact the so called "specialist team" or have them contact me either... order due tomorrow or thursday if the store is to be believed so they are fobbing me off until its delivered.

So after yesterdays phone call I received two emails. one from the agent I was speaking with and told me he would update me and then about 3hrs later from someone else who told me it is with the "concerned" team in google. I will wait till Friday for an update and then contact them again. I still have no idea when this will be shipped and neither do they. has really put me off this product big time.

Should be auto processing the refunds, not sure what the process is but if you have to contact customer support I wouldn't be too hopeful of them knowing what is going on.

I just noticed, you cant use 3rd party controllers if your playing via TV. I thought you could, I was going to get it to use xbox ellite or even the weird steam controller that I've always wanted to try.

The crappy looking stadia controller would definitely put me off signing up for this :(

It's actually very CPU intensive... Large DB and 10/15 leagues playable and you can have some very long wait times.

I was about to ask that actually, I always got the impression that while FM wasn't a graphical beast, it was a game that'll murder your CPU just on its squillions of calculations.

Yup for sure, it's the only thing that has me following the Stadia progress tbh, I play very few PC games these days and have an old pc I built ~7 years ago chugging along, so something like Stadia to play FM would suit me well potentially.

Graphically there's nothing to it, but very CPU heavy and general wisdom is to chuck a decent bit of RAM in the machine too but that's probably changed since I was last speccing out a machine. I was particularly curious about how Stadia would cater to it, as they're pushing using the controller for everythign from my reading but FM (and similar) games are awful in pretty much every configuration except for keyboard and mouse.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,864 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Thinking about it I think FM is pretty well suited to Stadia. No need to worry about lag etc. Just play it in the Chrome browser on your older machine. The mouse works with Destiny in the browser so I assume it will on FM.

Much cheaper than buying a new PC, or that 16 year old wonder kid :pac:

You will eventually be able to use 3rd party controllers on TV. Just not yet.
For what it's worth, the stadia controller is great to use. Only issue I have is sticks aren't offset. Buttons and triggers feel great. I think it looks nice too.

Has everyone that ordered the founders edition got theirs now??
Still delayed here, latest update on the order page has removed the expected delivery date... still cant cancel.

On continuous loop with support... We will pass it on the the higher level support... we are waiting for an update..

Higher level support can only be contacted by support, via CHAT!... Mine is a "rare" case.. 🙄

The problem with FM on Stadia currently is the lack of local files. You cannot save tactics, custom views or anything of this ilk. Add to that the lack of third party graphics and the inability to do the old license fix for the German national team (and now Juventus too). I'm sure some people can live without these things but being an avid FM player for as long as I can remember this would make it unplayable for me. It's a shame because I was definitely interested in how many leagues you could run and how quick loading times would be. Perhaps this will change in the future but I'm unsure how.

Exactly my concern, I don't save down tactics or anything but names/logos/kits/faces is part of my setup every year, wouldn'be be the same without them.

So didn't get it and just want to confirm.

Are the same billing options available for games in the stadia store as with the google play store, can you use carrier billing to use your accumulated credit.

There's always something you figure out to spend it on, when it's too late :D

I think they limit the carrier spending to €50 anyway on most networks, I know you have to directly buy with credit but I wonder could you add money to make the difference and then actually buy the games with the phone credit plus what's in the wallet.

It was 30 on Vodafone, but I wonder would it cover my Pro sub at least. I had it paying for Disney Life :)

Played a good bit tonight, an hour of destiny 2 around 6pm and then just finished another 2.5hrs there now. Very very impressed I have to say. I'm playing on virgin media WiFi 5ghz (don't have an ethernet dongle for the cast ultra). In that just over 3.5 hours, I had slowdown twice, both for ~2-3 seconds.
I played a little bit of tomb raider too. Worked well for the little bit I tried.

I've got project x-cloud too, this is much more stable and better graphics but XCloud is a beta so not really fair to compare yet.
The future is we won't need powerful hardware at home anymore, it's all about what's your data cap :pac:

Just wait for peak time congestion lag if people adopt this en masse.
