Nest Hello 12v supply, 4 wire chime not working

    Hi all,

    Recently I installed the Nest Hello and I had two questions that I need advice on.

    I have a transformer that allows 8v 12v or 24v output so i went straight for the 24v and the Hello wouldn’t complete the setup so i dropped down to the 12v and it worked fine. I thought it was 16v-24v? It works but I wasn’t expecting it to.

    The real issue I’m having is the chime not working. It’s a 4 wire chime that works with the 12v supply but I can’t seem to get it to work with the chime connector in circuit. See below for the wiring method I’ve used. Seems like it should work, am i missing something?

    I would start be measuring the transformer output so that you can see exactly what voltage is really being applied to the Nest device.

    Perhaps the 24V output form the transformer does not provide any output due to a fault (such as broken conductor).

    It is also possible that the Nest Hello will function or partially function at 12V as electronic devices often work over a variety of voltages (even outside what the data sheets states).
    The real issue I’m having is the chime not working.

    I assume that it is not designed to function at 12V (I have not installed one, but plan to soon) if this is the case it not that surprising.
