I mainly play on PS4 because my old PC is not capable of playing any new titles - never invested in proper GPU. I could probably add GTX 1050ti to old rig and be able to play something but Phenom II x2 b555 platform is just to old to invest in it.

So I intend to put system together that will allow me to play at decent frame rate at 1440p.

Here's what what I'd put together now and why I haven't done it yet.

    CPU Ryzen 7 2700x
Motherboard X470 Asus ROG Strix Gaming-F
    Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz
    System SSD Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB V-NAND M.2
Storage SSD Samsung 500 GB 860 EVO Sata III SSD
    Graphics Card RTX 2070
    Case Antec Luce P110
Power Supply EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G3, 80 Plus Gold

Didn't decide yet on the monitor yet but something 1440p 120-144hz

Only thing that's holding me back is release of new Ryzen 3000 series processors. So I'd go for
    PCU Ryzen 7 3700X
    Mobo X570 Asus

If brexit is going to screw my summer plans and will add the customs to UK online shopping I'll go ahead with first option sooner.

Any thoughts on the build ?

    Ryzen 5-2600X as I you don't really need the 8c/16t Ryzen 7-2700X tbh (at 1440p or higher you're GPU-bound rather than CPU-bound).
    SSD is on-sale on AmazonUK.
Alternative GPU is either used GTX 1080 (same performance other than ray-tracing, cheaper) or RTX 2060 (90-95% performance once overclocked for £100 less).

8cores would be in my thinking a form of future proofing as I'm not going to upgrade anything but GPU for next 5/6 years.
I skipped that cpu cooler cause the ryzen stock coolers seems to be doing good job.

Not sure about overclocked rtx2060 - its a very small gain and 2070 comes with an extra 2GB of RAM. And if I overclock 2070 I should be getting close to stock 2080 from what benchmarks and people say.

When you're going for a 144hz monitor, Intel is much better in this regard, a 9700K will give you much higher framerates than either Ryzen.

GPU wise, I don't agree with the RTX2060 as it's only got 6GB vram which is pathetic for such an expensive card. There aren't really any realistic options other than a) the expensive RTX2070 or b) get something like a Vega 56 8GB now and think about upgrading relatively soon down the line (year or two) and see where the market's at then.

Personally for me the RTX2060 is poor value, it needed to have 8GB vram to justify it's price.

RTX 2060 can get to within 1-3fps of RTX 2070.

RTX 2070 can't even touch the RTX 2080.

Intel clock speeds are very tempting but no.
Intel is at least 100e more expensive out of the box. Would also have to spend another 100e for a decent cooler. For me being occasional gamer difference in performance between I7 and R7 won't really matter.

I thought I saw a vid on YT where OCd 2070 was matching fps of stock 2080
but I guess it must have been at 1080p not 1440p.

I've just realized that RTX series is not worth it... yet. Too few titles to play with full RT support. Only 2080Ti is a real deal at the moment. Back to the drawing board. GTX1660Ti, GTX1070Ti, GTX 1080, VEGA 64.

Nah. A GPU over a grand = Not a deal.

I meant performance wise not price to performance.

Don't get one only for the RTX stuff, even on the few titles that do implement it the difference is subtle at best and not worth the performance hit. If you consider a RTX card consider it for the overall performance.

I'll probably pick 3 models that I like most, throw them in a hat and that's how I'll pick one for me ;)

Aside from the gpus any more recommendations on monitors? I was hoping to get 32" or bigger as I watch movies from pc quite often. Or maybe I should go for two monitors. Wouldn't mind being able to watch something and do other bits and pieces at the same time.

Maybe someone will be able to advise which of these screens would be the best choice:
Prices are in a range of 500e for all of them.

    LG 32GK650F-B
    BenQ EX3203R
    AOC AG322QC4
    HANNspree HG324QJB

EDIT: Nevermind - I'm sorted on all fronts. Thread can be close. Cheers.

What monitor did you go with in the end?

Just looking at the LC27JG50QQNZA posted above, looks very good for £300. Anyone buy one?
