Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Windshield chip

While driving the car on motorway, a small stone had hit the front wind shield and there is a 1-2 mm chip/crack on the screen. Still waterproof and air is not passing through.

Is it recommended to fix it straight away? And is it expensive to fill it with some glass repair material?

    Depends
If it is in your view area it may fail next NCT.
Search manual for windscreen (not windshield)
    http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/NCT/NCT%20Manual%20Revise%20JULY%202014.pdf

No need to fix asap but check with autoglass and similar places for a quote (you might also have windscreen on your car insurance)

I'd get it filled ASAP, very cheap and last thing you want is it spreading and a new screen.

    Thanks for the pdf file.

It says above "10mm diameter circle" in drivers vision area will result in failure of NCT.

Mine is no more than 3mm or at max 5 mm on any given day.

    Cheers

It hasn't spreaded in the last year or so. I can see it when I really focus where the crack is gone. But a new person won't be able to find it.

How much does it cost usually?

I had a small stone fall from a truck in front of me little chip in windscreen .....a week later I have a lovely big crack halfway down . Insurance will cover it tho thank god as its a heated windscreen would be pricey I'd say

Check your insurance policy, if you have windscreen cover then that might include free chip repair if possible.

Just checked my insurance policy, windscreen cover is included in the policy and no claim bonus will not be effected by this.
Will ring insurer to find out what garage do they include? It's with AXA.
