    Chapters, right?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,101 ✭✭✭brianblaze

That's the one! THey had them uncomfortably close to the adult movies section

I lived in Dublin from 2000-2001 and there was a place over near Virgin and Forbidden Planet where I would get my videos. Can't remember the name now think had mobile or communications in it. Also got my Halloween movie collection on vhs there. :)

Was that the shop on Marlborough Street that had all the old 90s wwe videos as well?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,048 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Nah this was on the quay. I would probably recognise if I saw it. Seriously doubt it's still there. Had a quick look on google but would probably take a while to find it

Just as DVDs started coming out, our local independant games shop started selling ECW VHS'. At €5 each. I bought a copy of everything they had. Spent a fortune.

Then put them in a box, and never watched them. Wife forced me to get rid when we bought our house. The tapes themselves were still wrapped in plastic, inside the plastic boxes. A travesty

I remember the store on Aston Quay, fairly roomy place, carpeted IIRC, with loads of direct to DVD movies. I remember them being very fair with price and good deals for DVDs compared to the likes of HMV at the time. I dont think it had a name...... though Castle Videos is in my head for some reason.

Chapters was always a mixed bag from the early 90's onwards. great for bargains even if they were mispriced. Got all my VHS in there which I still have in my Mams attic.

Loads of movies bought, loads never watched.... such as No Holds Barred which I haven't seen since I was a kid.

I remember the one in Aston Quay too, sold mobile phones and DVD/ Videos! They had a Nokia Communicator in the window on a plinth for years

Think I remember that shop you're talking about alright. Between Forbidden planet and Virgin yeah? Well gone.

TempleCom was the name of the shop on Aston Quay when I used to get wrestling videos there. Might have had other names as well though.

HMV did this too, they had the wrestling and adult section on the same unit. More or less side by side I think they were.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,048 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

That could be it. not sure is it was between Virgin and Forbidden planet or a bit further down from them

So you go to the wrestling videos so you can look sideways at the adult videos?

God I totally forgot about that place. I bought a bunch of old ECW tapes there, maybe even those "Best Of" WCW tapes as-well. It had a soft porn section too, I bought a few and to compare it to what is available online today, it would probably only be a 15 certificate now.

I recall my local pound shop getting a ton of ECW Tapes in and giving them away like 5 for 5 euro. They must have bought them for next to nothing.

Really was class. Acknowledged it was hard growing up under his dad but he makes clear Rocky is the reason he's still an ordinary joe soap that appeals to so many.

Tried to copy the text but Insta doesn't seem to allow that

I love you. You broke color barriers, became a ring legend and trail blazed your way thru this world
I was the boy sitting in the seats, watching and adoring you, my hero from afar.
The boy you raised to always be proud of our cultures and proud of who and what I am.
The boy you raised with the toughest of love.
    The intense work.
    The hard hand.
The adoring boy who wanted to know only your best qualities.
Who then grew to become a man realizing you had other deep complex sides that needed to be held and understood.
    Son to father.
    Man to man.
That's when my adoration turned to respect.
And my empathy turned to gratitude.
Grateful that you gave me life.
Grateful you gave me life's invaluable lessons.

Dad, I wish I had one more shot to tell you, I love you, before you crossed over to the other side.
But you were ripped away from me so fast without warning.
Gone in an instant and no coming back.
    I'm in pain.
But we both know it's just pain and it'll pass.
Now I'll carry your mana and work ethic with me, as it's time to move on because I have my family to feed and work to accomplish.
Finally, I want you to rest your trailblazing soul, Soulman.
Pain free, regret free, satisfied and at ease.
You lived a very full, very hard, barrier breaking life and left it all in the ring.
I love you dad and I'll always be your proud and grateful son.
    Go rest high.

    There it is

Hungover 17 year old me was at that event. I puked my ring on the way home after too much Sambuca the night before.

Mostly known for TNA and other half of Scarlett Bordeaux. Tbh he seems a bit generic so should go to NXT, but I wouldn't be surprised if debuted on the main roster as someone's muscle.

Becky and Punk on Backstage this week. Could be tasty if they're actually gonna do a Rollins/Punk feud.

Would a post Vince wwe get rid of a few generics of the pro wrestling world or are they unavoidable ???

The big shouty guy who beats jobbers
    The High flyer
The guy build like a brick house
    The pretty blonde

Jesus even seeing the name is giving me flashbacks to college. I haven't touched the stuff in nearly 13 or 14 years.

Don't, it's still awful. Nothing makes me gag as much as sambuca, give me tequila, brandy, anything but sambuca

I've no intention whatever or ever touching it. Jesus when I look back to that stupid "thing" me and a few of my friends did involving cider and sambuca and mixing it. Clearly people in their late teens early twenties are eijits at times.

Agree with all of this, sambuca is not at all worth it. Terrible memories associated with it and mixing it with other stuff, we thought we knew it all in our late teens, early 20s, only to be handed our backsides afterwards, as Itssoeasy has alluded to.
