And La Salsa were dishing out burritos on the streets of Galway for a long time before that! Still miss La Salsa.

    La Salsa was lovely

I always thought the opposite! Slightly different menus in each too. Up there with which is the best Charcoal Grill debate (Cross Street).

Yeah found that as well. The quesadillas were different. Much better by sallys. You'd get a half quesadilla and taco cheaps in a deal. Stinking of garlic for hours after. So good.

Sweater Shop inside the door of Corbett Court has closed.

A new Asian grocery store, called Asia Land, has gone into Cuirt na hAbhann in Liosban.

Is that in the old Post Office?

They have a website and deliver to Galway/Mayo/Roscommon.

Must be a work in progress as they only have 11 items listed and of those 8 are out of stock.

    Definitely a work in progress:

I *knew* flat 7 up would come out as a Covid cure. Fairly steep mark up at 11 quid but relatively reasonable! :P

No it's where Salon 2000 hairdressers was. Between the bakery and the e-cig shop.

Is this going in the location of the former Shannon Dry Cleaners site?

They've opened a hotel in Cork in the last few months (also called The Dean) with the primary selling point being their (over priced) rooftop bar / restaurant.

The actual shop is well stocked, we visited it last night.

The Dean Hotel (to be) has a page with Galway's best breakfast- link

Can anyone confirm that the pic (below) of Eggs Benedict are from Lohans? Also, have they closed, last Twitter post is 4 years ago & can't find a website for them.

    Eggs-Florentine-4.jpg

    Thanks,
    Pa.

Lohans is well gone, replaced by o'reillys.. Breakfast picture looks fairly standard tbh

It's a shame photographers can't put invisible identification marks on their work, so then they'd know where a pic was taken and when!

FYI, that's eggs florentine, cos its got spinach. Benedict needs ham.

That could be a stock/commissioned pic. People often ask food photographers to do them up. Someone obviously missed the Florentine/Benedict faux pas but bet that didn't come from a chef.

A reverse image search only shows up the The Dean pages for Cork and Galway.

Indeed, but there are also premises in lockdown now whose owners are debating whether they will re-open. Therefore the true effects of the pandemic might not be fully recognized yet.

This. I expect we'll see huge changes to how cities work as retail patterns change, and people realise they can do business from different types of premises.

I'm not overly familiar with the shopping landscape in town.
How many stores will be impacted by the Boohoo and Asos recent buyouts of UK retailers?

Most/All of the Arcadia outlets in Galway closed last year or the year before.

Debenhams closed last march and will never reopen, even the website closed to Irish customers.

So the buyouts should not make much future difference to Galway.

Top shop is going to be gone which means Edward Square only has Elverys left.

This is the heart of it really. They have in most cases just purchased the brand names and web presence not the bricks and mortar premises.
