    Anyone know when Scrumdiddly opening

They say "soon" ... and its July now.

But the premises has only just had some work like building storeroom done. No sign of any branding or icd cream shop fitting (freezers, machines etc) as at yesterday.

I know the basement cleared safely checks for the cinema, but a renter there tells me the place stinks when the tide is high, as to what they can do about the commonly held belief that there is pyrite in the mix, I dont know.

From another life of frequenting omni cinema's, this one is going to be expensive and I still cant see where they are going to put the cars that most ppl will drive there(as the buses from knocknacarra or outer salthill are non existent or patchy) I cant see where they will fit on a summer's or floody pm.

I can respond as a resident. The first comment is completely unfounded in its entirety. But it’s second hand information so you can be forgiven.

With regards parking, there’s a 4 storey multi-storey car park to the rear of the building. I do accept people will find the entrance frustrating and tight when you’re not used to it but it seems worse than it is. The multi-storey May not be open for the soft opening of the cinema as the workers are using it as a compound for materials. They are aiming for 4 screens to open initially while they continue working on the remaining 6. For this reason, I suspect the car park will not open or it may partially open.

Former Sheridan's / Bar One on the docks being cleaned up and printed. Looks like someone is taking it on.

    Edit : Painted not printed

I think it's only 17.95 a month which is pretty good if you go to the cinema more than twice a month, plus 10% off for extra tickets if going with others who are not members.

As an aside: As far as I know the premises no longer has an early license. Pity it was let slip as Galway is really lacking an early house. They are also a bit of a gold mine if run properly.

Traditionally, in areas where there was a dock or market, an "early house" license allowed a pub to open at 7am to cater for workers who would have been finishing up shifts at that point. The number of them dwindles every year.

From reading the piece, I though the KFC was moving into the building instead of being in the car park.

According to the list here: https://www.revenue.ie/en/corporate/information-about-revenue/statistics/excise/licences/liquor-licences.aspx, you are not correct.

There are only two early licenses left in the entire country, and neither of them have a Co Galway address.

Of course no one ever drove a car without having the correct license, either.

This isn’t true, there are a good few early houses in Dublin and at least 3 in cork. I’ve drank in two of the cork ones myself on many occasions in the early morning and they are 100% official and above board. I’m sure there are some more around the country too.

Look 'em up on the list, and add what they're licensed for.

I hate to tell you this but licensing law in this country is arcane and highly specialised, you're not going to reach a correct conclusion based on 5 minutes googling. There are plenty of "early houses" on that list under the category of "7-Day ordinary" as that's the starting point for how they are licensed to sell shameful, ruinous booze.

Look 'em up on the list, and add what they're licensed for.

Those files don't include which premises have a General Exemption Order (early house licence) in place. You would have to query each licence file individually if you wanted to ascertain this.

There are around ten early houses currently in operation in Dublin, but a few more premises may have retained the licence so as not to lose it as new ones can't be issued.

Walked past The Bodyshop earlier and it looks like it's being gutted inside. Hadn't heard anything about it closing down. I wonder is it gone for good or just a revamp?

Refit/ revamp. There was a notice in the corner of the window at the weekend.
