Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After trying this app again for the last week or so I've decided to give it miss.

It was always flaky and that's not going to change. Looks like it's just a one man operation doing this as a hobby. It is never going to have the volume of users to keep prices up to date to make it worth your while to check it.

I'm just going to use Waze instead, there are more users, it includes maps and as a Google company it will be supported technically.

Problem with Waze is that you can only update the prices when you are in range of the station, I've better things to be doing than updating when at the station or after driving off. For my local stations Waze is as bad as Pumps.ie

The next problem with Waze is that prices can't be updated on an iPhone through CarPlay.

With the reduced need to travel, I've not fuelled up since December, but will need to soon enough. Making an essential trip into Dublin tomorrow, so if anyone could advise on a station with reasonable diesel costs, that would be great. Local prices are around €1.32 at the moment.

Depends which way you're coming in from - I find Kimmage Road and Harold's Cross Road to be usually competitive.

With respect Dublin is a big area.

GO on Kylemore road is normally one of the cheapest around although I've no idea of recent prices.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

D4 fuels in Ballsbridge is always very competitive for cheap fuel.

Just make sure you update the pumps app for every stn you pass.

    It'll help others out

    * Also.. VAT back to 23%... So expect a 3 or 4 ¢ increase in the morning.

Good point, I'll be coming in the N4, going to city centre, and then out Rathfarnham direction, and back up the M50 to return to the N4 for trip home.

Forgot about the VAT change, that will likely undo any potential saving.

I'm unable to register on the Pumps app, nor log into it via Facebook. I assumed it was an area of the app that needed to be investigated by the new developer, perhaps I'm missing something?

I generally update waze as I go though.

Then pull in at Enfield, leave the N4 at Kinnegad, save the toll also, fuel up in Emo main st. Enfield, rejoin M4 at Kilcock.

I've emailed him half a dozen times over the years. He never replied.

Pumps.ie is done and dusted. I don't waste my time with it anymore.

Someone here (can't remember username. look back the thread and you'll find it), registered pumpz.ie and promised an app. Registering the domain was a bit premature as the app was never delivered and he too stopped answering messages.

Don't worry it'll stop working again and the author really doesn't care. How long are you using it?

It has been down for prolonged periods over the years.

I've been using it since 21st July 2020 .. maybe a week or so earlier.

I just noticed that I logged one station as 999.9 on that date.

(999.9 means that the price won't be considered in average price )

How can you use it when you can't register to update, or can't recover your previous logon details and password. The whole point is to have people updating prices.

    I know my login details.

And I logged in, using those details.

And I'm updating stations that I pass.

There are few people updating it.

    Zero updates in Kildare.

I can only see Dublin, Cork, 3 updates in Limerick, some in 2 or 3 other counties.

The rest is blank. No updates.

It's far from working. It's almost dead.

You and almost nobody else then. It was down for so long, passwords were forgotten, etc, or didn't autofill coz you changed laptop in the meantime. It's such a basic thing, to maintain a user database, without it there's no point. Fwiw the Waze app is as bad, you have to actively use the satnav app for 160km i think before you can update fuel prices.. Kind of hard to use satnav when. You're only in your locality, especially now, only 5-10 km away.

Quiet enough to be dead to me ;)

I don't need to know prices from February or December, because that's all I got within 20km.

And I don't live in the sticks.

You just need to have the app running while travelling 160 km, you don't need to be using it for navigation. It's not really the intended use, but you could have it open while walking or cycling. I update my local fuel prices while walking.

It's definitely not being updated as much as before, but when people were traveling normally it was a lot better.

Pumps.ie is only available on Android. No updates, then, from those of us using an iphone or a PC.

Although I can see the pumps.ie map on a PC, when I try to log in I am told that the page isn't working. If I try to login using Facebook I am told that the App isn't set up!

The map for Dublin is at present showing 26 active stations (those with a coloured rather than grey symbol). That is pretty poor coverage and really not must use to most users.

Unless there is full access to pumps.ie from all platforms and knowledge about it being available again becomes widespread, then it will be of very limited use as a guide to current fuel prices.

Haven't used it in yonks. Won't use it again. The owner just plays with it and updates it whenever he has nothing better to do whilst leaving the users in the dark and won't provide feedback or answer emails. It's down more often than not.

I have 304 points, don't know what Kms I've done, I still can't update petrol prices. I just leave Waze turned on when I start the trip, but when I finish it says network connection problem.

Are you near the petrol station when trying to update the prices? Sometimes there are problems with the user account status updating, you should try contacting support or check out the Ireland forum here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=119&sid=3a6d1580c8a1d4846ced1bd2c1eff033

Oil prices have been going up the last 5-6 weeks. OPEC hasnt increased production in line with economies opening up so its putting a squeeze on barrell prices.

For me, prices of petrol have been going up almost on the daily the last 8 months. Something can’t be right there.
