Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    $64,500.

Exciting day ahead. Is the direct listing at market open ?

I can see the stock listed with my broker already. But it seems like while you can place orders before, it will only start trading 10 minutes after markets open: https://www.coindesk.com/coinbase-ipo-not-ipo-direct-listing

(Correcting my previous post whereby I mistakenly said 1 hour)

It will still probably pump on listing. $250 is the mark apparently

I think if it starts at 250 it definitely will. Wouldn't be surprised if its 350 and possibly even 400 at some point in the day its seemingly traded as high as 375 in the last year.

It's interesting seeing the numbers coinbase have put out ahead of the listing their 2021 numbers have been insane you would have thought they would have got more of a bump during the first lockdown but guess it took the general public a little while to find and was only when btc hit 20 and started to getting a lot more press again that people started to read about it. Be interesting to see the user numbers in 6 months time you would think a lot of people who, have in the past have been put off, are now encouraged by the listing, and trust that brings, to jump in.

I'm finally exposed to some Crypto. Feels good.

What apps do people use to keep track of there portfolio and gains? It's grand when your money is sitting on the exchange, but what about hard wallets.

CoinMarketCap on android and manually via an investment spreadsheet on a computer. Hardwallets are unnecessary, IMO.

Can you send BTC to an external wallet?

No I couldn't, but I received an answer from Binance support. My account is not frozen, but the funds cannot be withdrawn until all 70 confirmations of a previous transaction are completed (after 3 days the transaction was at only 27 confirmations). Transaction was in BTG and I selected the wrong fee (too low!), so now I need to wait. I sent out more BTG to Bitfinex with a higher transaction fee and it processed within a day. Just want to get rid of these BTGs, made great short-term gain but they are too slow to liquidate and I don't like that.
I am also selling XRPs these days sending them from my Ledger wallet to Crypto.com and the transaction there is super-fast, so it's just BTG very slow.

I think that's fair enough. Everyone got a bit excited by the 250 guidance it always seemed a bit of optimistic. At that price I think it's one to pick up with the plan to sell at 390-420 in the next month or hodl assuming you don't see a crypto downturn anytime soon. If anything I think the listing is going to give it a nice bump in users.

I have a question about using a UK bank account to pay far less capital gains tax- does anyone here avail of this?

I have a national insurance number for the UK, but I don't have a bank account. Could I just set up a bank account in the UK (when travel reopens) and create an etoro account from that bank account?

    Or am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing that it doesn't matter where your account is. If you are tax resident in Ireland you are subject to 33% CGT, no matter where you transact business or have an account.

There is only one legal and legitimate way to avoid or lower CGT that I have been able to identify, and that is to emigrate pretty much permanently, or at least for 3 years before disposing of an asset.

Is it unusual for volumes to be just as high in the euro-coin pairings as the USD-coin pairings? I would have thought the market for crypto in the US would dwarf everywhere else.

Yeah seems to the strong one all day holding out when all fell.

Was watching all day and add coinbase to watch and this evening after a post about buying at 318 I thought this coin isn't moving at all.

Then the penny dropped. Facepalm. :D

I'll be happy if XRP gets over €155 again. :)

I think quite a few of the Alts had decent jumps the last week or so but Link hadn't moved much, so it was probably just it's turn. Sheldon on crypto banter YouTube channel tipped it for a bump earlier on. Great guy to follow. Sheldon_sniper on twitter.

Quick question: if you were looking to invest in crypto purely for fiat profit. Is investing using Revolut the best option? I know they take 2.5% for deposit/withdrawal but you don't end up paying the 33% CGT because you technically don't own the coin.

CGT is due in the same way. You are buying an IOU from Revolut and then selling it back to them with a profit.

Last LINK i got was 29 March, up 51%.
Stop investing money in shît coins like ADA, XPR , THETA hoping they do a 2x, and get on a sure thing, once staking is announced (august??) the price will rocket
Do yourself a favour, don't take my word for it, spend a few hours doing serious research on LINK and see the potential.

Do the opposite of what this clown says and you will make more money, they want you, Retail, to sell so they, Wallstreet, can buy.

Those sh1tcoins all outperformed LINK and ROSE since the start of the year
I'm sure you've done your research but your style of bashing all other coins while pumping your own is offputting. Have you been burnt by these in the past?

Does anyone have/know of a handy guide to cashing out crypto holdings? Easiest way to do it and steps for ensuring you're complying with CGT.

Revolut is UK bank so if you have NIN and address then that could work.

But Revolut charges are mad and you'd likely make them more money than you get.

Metal card is 1.5% rather than regular 2.5 but cost €7.99 a month I think.

Someone recommended Koinly here a while back for CGT and I found it very useful. I didn't pay for the report but it did tell me how much I owed.

As for the first question regarding "cashing out"? Never heard of this. Is it the next big coin? :P

Anyone not holding & staking ZIL right now needs to check it out again
15% staking rewards on ZIL and a 1,000:1 extra gZil reward for every 1000 ZIL claimed
    gZil is currently $437

ZIL is testing its ATH again this week and once it breaks it, there is open sky above it

I just unstaked mine actually. Didn't realise you had to wait a MONTH to get your coins back. So no way was I taking that chance.

Agree that they probably have the best staking though.

Do you automatically get the gzil once you have zil staked or what's the craic? I have Zil staked for months but can't find any gzil reward
