Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NCT wouldn't do emissions test

Ok.. my focus 1.8tdci was recently serviced and I brought it for NCT today.. Have to get a re-test because the bloke says he couldn't do the emission test because my oil level too high! I had checked the oil level few days ago so as I'm driving home I start worrying have I a coolant leak or something. Got home, left the car for awhile, and then go check the oil (on a level surface). Above the middle (granted) but below the top of the dipstick range. WTF is this about, is this a common problem with NCT?

Look for Preliminary Check before carrying Out Diesel Engine Smoke Test
If the oil level is not right they will refuse to smoke test.

I could be wrong but I don't recall ever hearing about them refusing smoke test because oil was too high when it wasn't

AFAIF you should check oil level when engine is warm not after it cools down.

Do you mean half way up the dipstick stick itself of half way up the designated area? As in are you in between A - B below or way above B and onto the stick itself?

If you are beyond B and onto the stick itself, then you're lucky you're still driving. If you're between A and B, then you've fallen foul of the testers matter of opinion and he may have mistaken residue on the dipstick for overfill. I'm not condoning it, but if it's happened you've very little recourse to fight it, easiest thing to do may be to just go back and do the test again and pass and forget about it.
