Not blown away by that mock-up of it, it's as basic as can be. And I'm sure the open entry plaza area facing the Sarsfield bridge underpass will never ever become an anti-social drinking spot outside of college hours.......

They've already got Arthurs Quay Park literally meters away. And surely what's currently there is more likely to attract anti social behaviour rather than well a lit open plaza.

Well Arthurs Quay park is only a stroll from “poor mans Kilkee” and that’s doing **** all to stop public drinking there so I don’t see what difference that will make?

The current place is certainly the boil on the arse of the river front. They've a fairly nice walkway, then poor man's kilkee. Creepy bridge. Then bleargh. Then arthurs quay park. Never mind the fashion quarter, we'll have a riverside quarter. :-)

Is it really that much of an issue. Can't say I notice too many problems around that area to be honest.

Have to laugh at people giving out about the "design". Remember this is from the Leader and is only one of a number of design ideas. Long way from a finished or even planned design.

Agreed there's more drinking down in poor man's ballybunion, down by the green area by establishment than in poor man's kilkee

I think there is an apartment or two up there also.

Yeah, there are 6 apartments. http://search.savills.ie/Properties/Commercial/Investment/Cork-Investment/18-19-sarsfield-street-limerick.aspx

Interesting to see that the building was recently sold (to UL?) and the apartments only have a D2 BER rating. It could probably do with redevelopment.

Didn't some of those apartments have structural issues or something years back, some of the brick work literally fell off the building?

Came off during the storm that took the roof off the boat club.

My buddies apartment at the time. His Mrs was standing on the other side of the sliding door/window when it happened

Additional irony points if she'd been listening to Pink Floyd.

We need a lot of things but its beautiful to finally see something happening here. Also, I know you're a long time poster here but I'm now 100% certain that you post just to get a rise out of people.

The UL logo is up in park point for the last 18 months without any real movement on that building. We might see planning permission for the Dunnes site inside the next 18 months but it’s prob 4 years away from being ready. Still good progress

Also, it looks like UL have started clearing the site on campus for the new students service center

Is this going to be a 19 storey building? Would be a nice addition if true!

Ah c'mon, people are forever running up the holes of the county stickfighting team.

And if Limerick FC was being run the same way, I'm sure they'd be getting the same kind of attention too. ;)

To be honest if anyone compared it to Limerick FC winning anything I'd still cringe.

I agree with AG somewhat on this. Fair enough when it's finally built and if the rest of the area also gets improved then big it up massive. Surprised he didn't try to throw in a reference about Dolores O'Riordan in the tweet also.

Limerick FC got the wrong millionaire businessman. We got the one who had lots of money but no common sense. While JP had the common sense to not get involved when asked, think himself and Pat are brother in laws.
